My question is do you think that is the way Carlisle wants to play?  Is it because we are limited outside of Luka?  or is this because this is how Luka wants to play?

I was hopeful we would see growth in this part of the game.    I don't believe it is the best way to win multiple playoff rounds.   I obviously don't want to run the triangle (have bad memories of that as a Mavs fan), but I thought it was beautiful with Jordan how the Bulls would move that ball around and cut and make defenders work, only to get to the ball to Jordan at his spots where he would do his thing.

I'm not sure what the cause is...this has been a big problem with the Mavs offense. I believe it is a combination of all factors. RC is historically a control freak - he clashed with Kidd and Rondo over the handling of the offense. RC always wanted to call the plays while Kidd/Rondo wanted the trust to run the offense on their own. I believe since the Mavs got Luka, RC has had to change his style and is letting Luka have full control. We see the good when Luka can make something happen on his own. We also see the bad when the offense gets stale and it's nothing but Luka dribbling around for 20 seconds and launching up a hero shot or passing it out to someone else for a three. As great as Luka is, he is still 22 and has a lot to learn so when he needs some help, it would be good to see them change things up on offense instead of just constant isolations.

Long-term, the goal should be to get another dynamic ball-handler who can create his own shot. That should improve things. However, until that happens, I'd just like to see more creativity on offense.
  • Only Michael Jordan has a higher playoff PPG (33.4) in NBA history than Luka Doncic (32.8) [min 10 GP]

  • Luka Doncic joins MJ and Wilt Chamberlain with the t-most GP (4) of 40+ PTS through 1st 11 career playoff GP ever

  • 1st player with 275+ PTS/75+ REB/75+ AST through his 1st 9 career playoff GP in NBA history

  • Most GP (5) leading his team outright in PTS/REB/AST through a player’s 1st 8 career playoff GP in NBA history
I hope Luka gets better conditioning and develops better defense during the offseason. Nothing more. Everything else can stay as good as it is. Cool

That being said: Do you guys remember how Luka had a few weeks in which he had a lot of steals and his team defense was really good? I wonder why that skill completely disappeared.  Huh Idea
Luka is insane.

I'm disappointed the Mavs organization isn't doing more to capitalize on his talents.

That is all.

You think Luka is secretly mad at the Kings/Vlade for not drafting him. Obviously they keep Bogdanovic/Bjelica under the circumstances and that´s their top rotation:

Luka
Fox/Hield
Bogdanovic
Barnes/Bjelica
Holmes
Sure, Luka can always improve his conditioning and more years in an NBA training program will probably do that anyway. But he also has the highest usage rate in the league vs. a good defense. There's not much conditioning that can prepare you for 40+ minutes of playoff basketball where you are expected to do everything on offense vs. Kawhi and a good team defense.

If the Mavs want him to be Harden on the Rockets, then that's what they are going to get. Otherwise, they will need better talent and the coaches need to do a better job of helping the players out to put them in position to succeed.

lol, Bobby left off Luka's ft percentage. He should've included it. Doesn't change the great series Luka had, so why polish up the truth?
That Kawhi performance was probably the best I have ever seen from an individual player (not named "Michael Jordan"), from the D to the shooting efficiency.

Can anyone else think of a better playoff series performance?

I think Luka went out of his way to not get drafted by the shitstorm that's the Kings. That's the only reason to me why the Kings passed on him is because he said he'd just stay in Europe.

So no. I think Luka is incredibly happy he's not with the Kings.

Okay, this is the first thing I've found not to like about Luka in the past three years, that he would lower himself to trade jerseys with this douche. Loses a little respect from me.

Maybe Luka should just pull the plug on the playoffs, here on out! Wink
