Dorian is the closest thing we have to a dog on this team.  I just wish he'd bark more.  Maybe he needs Marv Albert to call more games where he constantly refers to him as Hardaway Jr or Richardson.

"The Mavericks ... rose to a perfect 23-0 when leading after the first quarter."

The Mavs also improved to a perfect 29-0 when making a higher percentage of 3-point attempts than their opponent.

No kidding. I cannot believe that someone who has so much trouble telling African-Americans apart has made such a career out of the NBA.

I suspect it's way more minor than you theorize.

In the blur of the game, you sometimes just get a glimpse of who did that. Unless there is a huge diff in appearance, you look for the number ... and when you see a 1 or a 0, you might confuse whether you saw J-Rich 0, THJ 11, and DFS 10, all of which have some mix of 1 or 0 on their uni.
OK ok time for overreactions.

Do y'all think we've been just a tad bit too doom and gloom? I mean I get it. At times this team looks downright frustrating and has been the most Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Mavs team I've seen in my lifetime.

But I mean take a look at this: https://twitter.com/IsaacLHarris/status/...5587449859

and this

https://twitter.com/MFollowill/status/13...0280175618

These are some serious wins against some very good teams. Most of the Mavs losses have been downright puzzling and the majority against bad teams. SAC 3x. NOP with no Luka/KP. OKC with no Luka/KP. CHI 2x That's 7 of the Mavs 28 losses right there.

Further this team was absolutely ravaged by COVID in the beginning of the year where they lost 6 straight being forced to play with their C team. They've fought back from the 14th seed to the 5th seed and have put up a valiant effort to keep it.

Maybe we're underestimating this team a bit both in our expectations and in the changes we're calling for. I know their play on the court looks wonky and out of sync but they're coming up big against good teams and are doing it consistently. MUCH more than last year. Perhaps Donnie knows what he's doing.

Finally taking a look at our core players:
Luka- 29/8/9 on 48% from the field and 36% from 3
KP- 20/9 on 47% from the field and 36% from 3
DFS- 12/6 on 52% from the field and 47% from 3 since 3/29
Powell has been an energizer bunny and made countless of big plays
THJ after his rough month has bounced back in a BIG way.
Brunson- Career year putting up 13/3/3 averaging a ludicrous 52% from the field and 39% from 3.

Luka made the change we've all been clamoring for and has become a respectable 3pt shooter. I have no doubt in my mind he'd be closer to 40% if he reels back his shot selection a bit (and doesn't start the year out of shape). KP, despite his unluckiness with his health has put together a career year in efficiency coming back from a knee injury.

This team isn't perfect. There definitely needs to be changes. But perhaps while we've been chiding the Mavs all year (rightfully so at times) they've become a team not to be trifled with. JRich certainly has to go. We do need a roll man because Powell can't play 48 minutes and KP just can't set a screen.

But anyways, all I'm saying is if the team can keep it together, maybe we can make some noise in the playoffs. Hopefully KP returns to bubble KP then. IF he does then the Mavs might be a dark horse.

Yes. I don’t expect the Mavs to go on some super long playoff run, but I also don’t think they are nearly as bad as they have seemed at points during the season. Basically, I think they are improved from last year, overall.

My comment was meant humorously, not as some sort of take on modern racism. I agree with what you say above, and I’d add that for guys like Albert who are used to being in attendance at these games, calling the action off of the same video feed we are watching is probably pretty tough. Then again, he also might just be losing a step with old age.
38-28. I already called game on my 41-31 season record prediction. They really need to bring back the Zinger, so we can rack up some losses, otherwise they might exceed the win total. Big Grin

Just not DURING the next game, right???!!!
If Lakers lose tonight, they will be effectively 3 games behind Mavs. A lot of things would have to go wrong for Mavs to lose that advantage.

9 - 0 vs rest of NBA
0 - 2 vs Sacramento (0-3 inc Apr 19 loss)

Big Grin
Do we cheer for the Lakers to lose or do we want Portland to lose tonight?
