Heart
You cannot win with KP being your number 2 and in and out of the lineup like that.

Karl Anthony Towns would be my number 1 choice as well as a trade target if he is available.

The issue with Towns is that he tends to play soft sometimes but he does play with his back to the basket and is an offensive upgrade over KP. A pairing with Luka could be really really dangerous.

Not to be Captain Obvious, but you can't win with ANYONE as your #2 that's in and out of the lineup all the time.  I do get what you are saying...we need a #2 that's in the lineup way more than he's out.

I think the #1 and #2 guys have to be in the lineup for 80% of the regular season (65-70ish games in a regular 82 game season - 57-60ish games this year) and 100% of the playoffs to be serious about a championship.

He's played 17 of 29 games so far, but to be fair, KP was sitting 9 because of the mixup on the start of the season that which messed up his surgery that was scheduled.  If you take out the first 9 games that were off-season surgery related...he's played 17 out of 20 games (85% of the games).  He sits last night and tonight and that's 17 our of the last 22 (77%) --- and several back to backs.

If we are fair, Jaren Jackson Jr had the same surgery as KP, 15 days BEFORE KP did, and he's not back yet.  We can cut him some slack, I think.

Hard to argue with any of that but my point should have included that you can win assuming that you have other pieces after the Number 2 guy to carry the load. Take Brooklyn for example. I know they have 3 stars which is a rarity in the league. The point was the Mavericks are not good enough to win consistently without their number 2 guy and as you said most team aren't built to win under those odds either...
If we ditch KP, I wouldn't want it to be in exchange for another big.  Gobert seems like the only guy that can stay healthy.

He had a nice right cross on Pritchard.
Nice win. The benchmark should be 6th place. Anything less, that puts you into a play in situation, is a disappointment.
This of course is just one journalist opinion, but might give indication how league see our young talent. So far the author has covered top 50 - top 10 young players and Brunson didn't even make it to an honorable mention with the likes of Bazley, Miles Bridges, Zach Collins, Culver, Diallo, Dort,... I doubt we will see him in top 10 Smile Perhaps an overlook but one wonders.

Here is the comment of the author, why Brunson is "overlooked": I love Jalen, think he’ll play in the NBA for a decade. But I think basically the only guys he could start at point next to are Luka and LeBron. I’m super glad he’s found his spot though, and that’s what’s most important for his career.

Jalen's play of late places him in that top 50 group.  If he is consistent, then he will get recognized for it.  When I first saw the article, I thought he was better than several in the top 50.  I bet a unicorn Luka is number one.

100 %. Anything else would be a joke
Caught some shows this morning and the media is starting a narrative of a rift between Luka and Rick..

Geez.... do I count 11 back to backs?!?!

Do they at least have a reason, even if it’s not a good one, or are things literally just being made up?

Seems like an odd time after a Luka buzzer beating win when things should be happy.

Luka apparently turned away from Rick after the game winner...something, something different playing philosophies for Luka (free flowing) and Rick (too structured).  You are spot on with it being a weird takeaway from the win.
Feels like the schedule isn´t getting any easier in march and april. Can only hope that a winning streak to close out the season against some of the tanking teams is enough.

My best prediction:

Remaining games old schedule: 2-2
March: 7-5 or 6-6
April: 9-7
May: 7-3. Maybe 8-2
