Mavs are 19-7 since Feb 1st.

Good for a 56 win pace.

I know we're giving this team a lot of grief (because at times they look like a lotto team), but they are performing.

Maybe we shouldn't reinvent the wheel come this summer and keep the band together. I for one want to wait for the playoffs for sure before I make a sweeping statement on who should be shown the door after the season.

All I do know is that I'm leaning more and more to just throw the MLE at the best role player we can get and shore up our 10th/11th/12th guys as best as possible.

Another one from yesterday. The Mavs defensive development of the entire team is kinda encouraging to see.

If you look closer at the losses, "uh oh" in a positive way.
  •     NOP (no Luka/KP)
  •     IND (no Luka)
  •     Portland (no DFS)
  •     OKC (no Luka/KP)
  •     Philly (no KP)
That leaves one loss vs. Clippers, one loss vs. Blazers on a Lillard buzzer beater.

These aren’t rumors, just the authors speculation but I like every one of these players for us. All would fit a need and are probably very attainable with the possible exception of shcroder. It seems he’s looking to get paid this off-season and I’m not sure he’s worth what he’s asking. And he’s an inconsistent shooter which gives me pause. Still I’d like him for the right price.

Nice targets. I think it shows author is Giles fan, because there are likely some 50 players of his quality available Smile I think Schroeder will remain a Laker unless they will SnT him. They just don't have any other option but pay him, they don't get capspace if he leaves. His agents knows that, so he is squeezing them for every last penny. I doubt there is anyone who would offer him more than 84/4 he rejected from Lakers.
During the recent successful streak, the players' RPMs have been rising, but so have their PERs. Luka is up to 29.87, also known as "Holy Poop This is a Great Player" range. Kristaps is up to 24.30, aka "Yes, Mama, He is a Star" range. Brunson is up to 19.81, aka as "Ooh, Maybe He's a Star Too" range, especially for a guard.

What if they finish over 30, 25, and 20 respectively? Why can't that be the core moving forward if they can put it together?

Meanwhile, Richardson is up to 13.18, aka "Hmmm, Maybe I Won't Have to Opt In If I Keep This Up" range. THJ is at 17.59, which is "Show Me Da Money" range, but trending down iirc. Melli's PER with the Mavs is 20.84, or "Yes, I am That Roman God That My New Mavs Fans Think I Am" range.

Didn't Dirk dislike Schroeder for some reason?
Utah starters missed combined 17 games this season. An achievement matched by KP alone. Mavs starters combined missed 57 games. Luka is the ironman with only 5 games off. I think this is one of the reasons Utah is so good. I don't think any other top team had so few injury/Covid problems. It also means others have likely more reserves that could be a factor in the playoffs.

Utah's a deep team though.  They pony whipped us without Mitchell earlier in the season though I'm sure we were missing players as well.

I think the Lakers will keep him but I would sure love some other team to money whip him just so the fakers lose out on him and hopefully get worse. I wouldn’t mind Giles as a bench big but I don’t really see a spot for him unless we don’t Powell.

I’m not sure but it’s possible. I will say this though, if Dirks out I’m out.

Besides Doncic's offensive run, the Mavs defense has been at another level. Dallas' defensive rating was 97.4 last week, a big improvement over its 111.4 defensive rating for the season.

I will say that, when everyone important is available, DAL is either winning or losing close games. The last two full strength losses were to LAC and POR. In both cases the first of a two game mini-series. DAL then came back two nights later and blew out both of these teams.

Is there maybe more to feel good about than is generally acknowledged? Maybe something more than a 1st round exit?

Wearing my rose-colored glasses today...
Seems like Memphis will take that 8th seed from the Spurs, who are struggling bad lately.
I'm starting to believe that the only way the Mavs are going to lose any more games the rest of the regular season is when Luka sits. And it's not about Luka; it's about the whole team.
