13. Dallas Mavericks (↑Previously 21st), 13-15, -1.6 net rating
Weekly slate: Win over Wolves, Win over Hawks, Win over Pelicans, Loss to Blazers
Trade target idea: Bradley Beal
One of the many teams I’d like to see get aggressive in going after Beal. The trade for them is rough to do. They already owe two first-round picks to the New York Knicks, so the framework of a deal would look something like Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Brunson, Josh Green and Josh Richardson, plus a first-round pick or two and a couple of pick swaps. Washington fans already hate this trade proposal, so maybe it’s a bunch of pick swaps. But for Dallas, grabbing another creator next to Luka Doncic creates so many issues for the rest of the NBA. You’d never get an un-staggered lineup with Doncic or Beal on the floor. Both can be lethal off-ball. Both can work a two-man game with Kristaps Porzingis. It’s tough/improbable to pull off, but the window for the Mavs adding a third star is nearly ended in free agency anyway.
Why are they ranked here? Huge bounce-back week for the Mavs! That’s exactly what they needed. String some wins together before dropping a tight one to Portland.

1) Make him happy and pump his numbers up this season.

2) See if the team finds a way to be better in the process.

3) If the team is struggling to be super successful then you trade KP this summer.
I am so fully in on this plan honestly. Make the evaluation and decision this offseason.
If he wasn't public enemy #1 on this team I would have suggested Marcus Morris as the perfect fit next to KP. Big PF, can stretch the floor, decent defender, isn't a high dollar player and has some bite in his bark.

Who is the next up and coming Marcus Morris? That's who I want.
I mean, if you want a 4 that can shoot 3s and rebound to complement KP as the action man, there's Kevin Love .. but man, that defense would be so, so bad.

KL hits on 2 of the 4 things I stated MM can do. If we're going for those 2 things, give me Gallo instead of KL, but I want a big guy that's gonna defend "good enough". Kleber himself hits on 3 of the 4, his issue is he isn't big enough and doesn't play bigger than his size, well, I guess that is the issue, he doesn't play bigger than his size. PJ Tucker is another old version of what I think would be really good for this team.
So much for Detroit coming on a second leg of a back to back Smile

Note Bey and TT were +4 and +12, both two of the best on their respective teams.
Terry with more turnovers than assists.  Shot still not falling.  Somehow his midget ass is getting a bunch of rebounds though.

At this point, the Mavs draft gets a solid D.

Yeah, he's got to learn to playmake. His shooting is established as excellent - the issue is, is he having trouble getting his shot off due to the greater competition, or has his growth and added strength messed it up?

If WCS had Bey's hands, then all of his other warts would become immaterial - he'd be our center of the future.
I have yet to see TBey play a single minute of basketball at the 3, and that’s truly concerning. I hope he’s getting experience there at the G-league, but my assumption is that he’s probably playing the 4 still, and that’s why he’s putting up such great numbers.

If he’s going to be a small ball big, then he should just be HERE with the Mavs - he’s ready to contribute in that way now.

My guess is that he is going to be a 4 in the Mavs system in the way that DFS is a 4. You know I would prefer him to be a legit 3-wing, but 1) I am cool with him being a 4-wing and 2) I don't know crap compared to the Mavs who know him intimately now (and I assume they are going to do what is best for him).
