Mavs were pretty good offensively with pre-injury DP operating in KP's space ... but the real point is Collins is a much better shooter than DP so I don't think Collins would clog the paint for KP at all.

In fact, I love the KP + Collins fit offensively. It might also be halfway decent defensively, provided KP is motivated and Collins keeps working to improve on that end.

The bigger issue seems to be the 0% chance that Collins is traded to Dallas without KP outgoing.

So, wondering what would Collins look like next to Holmes ...hmm
KP --> Kings

Kleber + Bagley + 1st --> Hawks

Holmes + Collins + Joseph + Snell --> Mavs

Ya maybe. We need shooters, the more the merrier. Also need another star tho.

I would be ok with adding Reddick on a buy out (which is a growing possibility) and the Mavs going their merry way.

I would like that, too. Unfortunately I think that might be one of the least likely scenarios.
Don't kill me, I went over to read the NBA Supes guy on the Hawks fan forum.  He said this...

"I almost forgot to mention, if Dallas is willing to trade a future 1st with limitations protections, FVV could be their PG. Clippers are also in on FVV. This one is just breaking."

Not a huge fan of that at first glance, but it tracks with some things we know about Dallas’s thinking on the roster.
Fred VanVleet would be fantastic if we could get him for a future 1st. I assume they'd also want Brunson+Johnson for salary matching.

I might be smoking crack right now, so I reserve the right to change my mind once I come to my senses and wrap my head around this, but my first thought is: just let me keep Brunson.

I mean, isn't FVV the player we're hoping maybe Brunson can possibly, hopefully become someday?
FVV is a proven winner at the biggest stage, and is a dog defensively

Brunson is nice, but sign me up for FVV.. Doubt the Raptors let him go though, so this is a cow's point

Putting aside the source and simply focusing on the content, honestly I can see it. Toronto appears to be ready to tear it down, and swapping FVV for Brunson, a future 1st, and lots of cap space (Johnson) probably seems like a pretty good deal to them right now.

Now whether Dallas would prefer to pay that much for FVV (including the pic) or simply re-sign the guy they have is another matter. The tiebreaker might be Brunson being honest about his goals as a FA. Would he be willing to stay in Dallas or would he prefer to be a starter somewhere else even at the same money? If he doesn't plan to stay, flipping him for FVV could indeed be a very good deal worth considering.

Yes, and that is an excellent point.

Here are the things on my mind, personally:

1) FVV isn’t old, but Brunson is much closer to Lukas’s age.

2) Brunson is much cheaper, and will likely remain much cheaper on his next contract. In a vacuum, I guess that’s not a huge deal, but..

3) FVV’s contract virtually guarantees him a starting role, while I’m personally hoping Brunson can become a first guard off the bench (still playing heavy minutes) type. Now, if the GOAL is to add another starting guard who can handle and score, and the Kemba stuff gives us reason to suspect they like that idea, then sure, FVV bumps the plan forward significantly. But, whose spot does he take? Does he replace Richardson? Hmmm...maybe. Does he replace Kleber or DFS, effectively making Luka a SF? Defensively, I’m not sure I like that plan so much, though I definitely like having the OPTION of playing that way.

Like I said, this idea is so out of left field I’m just slow to wrap my mind around it. The offense would certainly be better, and this would take care of any secondary playmaking issues the team has suffered, for sure.
I don't think FVV is actually being shopped tho...

We have zero idea whether anyone is being shopped. Most of the names mentioned in every article are probably not being shopped. This entire trade season industry is built on a web of lies.

Doesn’t stop us from having fun discussing.

Just sayin'. Guys like Lowry are actually being shopped. Regarding FVV I will believe it when I see it.
