There are plenty of different ways to word it while also giving the same vote of confidence. A good possibility that MC is even behind a “make it work” directive, which would be why there is no mincing of words. I’m not naive to the thought that it could be lots of smoke and mirrors, but everything said in that press conference and the way it was said tells me while they may still look for a trade, the deal HAS to be one that MC will sign off on, and that to me means it has to be a blow me away type offer.

I know there is a great desire on the part of many fans to read a commitment to play the rookies  substantial minutes during the season into Kidd's comments.

It seemed to me that he was avoiding making a commitment one way or another, making clear that he could not make a decision on that without watching them play and "seeing what we have."

Don't think we can really make much of that, but we'll see before long, I guess.

Really appreciated his demeanor and "close to the vest" mentality. He was there to not let anything get out that might be detrimental to his team building efforts.

I couldn’t tell if he was happy or pissed off. His answers were concise.

He is the opposite of Cuban.

Nico will do great things here, so long as Cuban let’s him.

I will just repeat I think this would be a great move. He knows a lot about basketball. He has been a respected assistant for long time, in parallel successful Georgia national team coach and at peak national coach of Slovenia winning Euro Championship. I am a bit surprised by his lack of success afterwards with bad Phoenix episode, not really great season in Turkey and failure to bring strong Serbia to Olympics over Italy.

I’d love to see him impart some knowledge to our bigs!

How to box out and get rebounds please...
Looks like the staff is coming together.

This is the way I heard it, too.

I was expecting to hear the usual lukewarm pablum, if we heard anything at all. But one of the main goals of the presser seemed to be to rehabilitate KP in the minds of the fans, and talk about what plans they have for him this season.

Not to say they wouldn't trade him for the right deal, of course, but they seemed to be laying it on that they were going to try to make it work.

Ya, to me, you can still “seeing what we have” in practice and summer league. I hope Kidd spends a good amount of time with the summer league too.

However, the enthusiasm for making things work for KP was stronger than they really had to exhibit. Not saying they wouldn't trade him for the right offer, but definitely got the vibe that they want to try and make it work, and aren't looking to dump him at all.

Nico was introduced as general manager and President of Basketball Operations. FWIW, that's the first time we have heard that he has the President title.

That sounds like Bob has a new boss. Big Grin
All I want to know is if they will join all the other teams and do some hardcore tampering...

Now let me not call back Dame.
I was really surprised no one asked about THJ.

I mean, it could still be a top priority to get his trade value around the league, which would give off the impression to other team execs that trading him is the top priority. So there could be some info to be gleaned from the tweet.

Connecting those dots, I’d guess Nico didn’t find the value either he was looking for or what MC was requiring and is at where we arrived with truthful comments in the presser.

That doesn’t mean some team in the  future doesn’t swoop in and offer what is required still. Things can change fast in this NBA world.

I am mostly on your side of this KP debate though.
Kokoskov would be a big hire. An established coach with plenty of NBA experience AND international experience with Luka. As an assistant handling the X's and O's, he could be perfect.

It would be up to him though - he just left the NBA last year to go be the HC overseas so maybe he just doesn't want to be an assistant again.
Also interesting to note - I didn't see Stein at the presser yet he was twitting the news that were not told at the presser Smile

I think none of us, least of all legionhoopsross, have enough dots to connect to know jack, really.  People on this board are trying to say it's whatever they hope will happen.

We are all looking at three randomly placed dots on a black page and half are going "I know it's the Mona Lisa" and the others are going "nah-unnnh, it's the Triumph of Death...."

That's just fact....the truth is that people are taking whoever comments that they want to believe and playing like it's a rock solid source, when it's really just a strongly wished for opinion....or spaghetti thrown against a wall.

We xoukd have a team of Luka, Iggy, Jimmy Butler and Boogie by the time it's over...I just throwing random names because no one knows...  but this nonsense that their top priority is to simply get KP off the roster before they even have a full coaching staff  is nonsense...  we'll find out.   We've got Luka....that's the strongest given right now.
Love the Kokoskov hire, if true. But to me best news of the day is Nico's personality. I didn't expect him to be so humble and methodical. I thought, he'd come in with a "here I come, the big dude from Nike" kind of mindset. I was very surprised and appreciate that immensely.
Edit to add: Cynthia is such a professional. It's actually ridiculous.
