Huh?

Noel = McGee
Burks = Pinson
Kemba = empty roster spot

= 15 players under contract.

Right, so you have to remove McGee and Pinson from the current roster.

But to my main question: Can you legally do a JB for Noel+Burks+Kemba SnT? Does the money work?

Well. I guess what you could have done technically:

Walker + two SRPs + Noel for TPE + Powell (two separate deals on draft night)

Brunson S&T for Burks + Gibson + 1 SRP

Whether the NBA would have any legal way to punish the teams is a different matter.

So in the end our roster would have been

Doncic/Walker/Ntilikina
Dinwiddie/Burks/Hardy
Bullock/THJ/Green
DFS/Kleber/Bertans
Wood/Noel/Gibson

+ 3 SRPs

Most likely better than the roster, we´ll be able to build from here, unless they once again blow through the few remaining future assets.
Summer limit is 20 players, not 15. They could do all that, dump whichever they don't like and keep the whole current team.

Dump how? How can you just dump those players without attaching assets?

I don’t see him as like Dirk at all. Luka either already is or will soon be the biggest global brand in the sport.  The Mavs are an asset for him, not the other way around.  They’re just part of his overall portfolio. When he has Maverick obligations, he’s certainly a classy, standup member of the franchise, but his next contract will definitely be about resume. If the Mavs can’t check that box within the next three years, or put a team on the court that’s the favorite to check that box, they’ll need to think about the unthinkable—trading Luka while he still commands maximum value. His next contract will be solely about finding the team that gives him the best chance at the most titles in a four year period.

The attitude, if any, is kind of a pushback on how you always will try to absolve Cuban and Mavs FO of any lack of skill. ALWAYS, without fail, you try to paint their messes as impossible to avoid, or as unfair, or as unknowable. Here, you want to accuse me of arrogance for daring to point out the glaringly bad situation. Good grief.

When you say here that "I just don't see anyway we can make a judgment on the Mavs here" then, frankly, it seems you are blinded by your bias, Kamm.

I would like to Thank Jalen Brunson for his performance last year resulting in a WCF appearance against a Warriors team that found their glory at just the right time. This is only our 5th appearance in my 42 years as a fan and 24 years as a season ticket holder. I appreciate it!!!!

Jalen probably knew he would likely leave a long time ago. He never let that show in his play and said some nice things about playing with these guys. He seemed to really enjoy playing for Jason Kidd. He was never the most outspoken Mavericks loving guy but he gave us an awesome contract year performance. I will not root for him in the future like I did for Ro, Harp, Finley and others and I already hated the Knicks. We may eventually be glad we didn’t pay him or we may not. He is gone now so here is my Thank You note. Now bring on next season.

I like JB but I never really bonded with him.  I hated losing the asset, not sure I will miss the player all that much. Bring on the guys we have and next season for sure.
Thanks to Reunion Mav for reminding me I showed up to Reunion Arena w/ 3 friends only to find out Jason Kidd got traded to Phoenix before the game started.  Needless to say, we left before the 1st quarter ended haha.  Guess we weren't paying attention to the news or that trade was announced late in the day.

I miss the days of not being instantly connected.  I think back to my early 20s and playing MGS2 and being floored by the twist in the game which certainly wouldn't be kept under wraps in this day and age.

I hear you and yeah its different now.  I was addicted to the first NBA2K on Sega Dreamcast.  MG was nice also!  I got a few more boring Mavs stories I might save for when it gets boring this off season.  My childhood friend was a ballboy for a year.

NFL2K and NBA2K were so great on the Dreamcast.  Me and my buddy played them and Soul Caliber so damned much.  Then we took my Dreamcast over to another buddies house who had this little ankle bitter who chewed up my light gun cord between House of the Dead sessions.  The cord was so long that we didn't notice and when we plugged the light gun back in it fired all the controller ports.  Good times!
lmao and Soul Caliber!!!!
(07-11-2022, 11:10 AM)Tyler Wrote: [ -> ]The S&T possibilities aren't over until Brunson signs. It's only the large 3-team deals that have sailed. For example, Dallas could still pay NY to take Brunson in a S&T into all of that space (while sending a big TPE back with no extra salary) by removing the conditions on the 23 pick. That's similar to what Charlotte and Boston did when Charlotte signed away Hayward. And it could still benefit both teams.

I'll believe it when I see it, though.

Neither Brunson nor Hartenstein were completed today.  NY hasn’t finalized Robinson either.  To your point, the stuff that was taken off the table is just the three way stuff with Detroit.  NY is keeping this open for some reason.  Dallas doesn’t control the timing, nor do we have to be part of the reason it is still open.

Starting with the NY perspective…NY should have TPE’s from the Kemba deal and the Noel/Burks deal.  But, the trade match where Noel/Burks can match Brunson or go to a 4th team (or Dallas) is off the table.  They can operate under the cap without any help.  They can operate over the cap, but the trade match for Brunson has to be something else now.  I don’t think Dallas wants Fournier or Randle.  They could go to a third team, but Dallas would get the incoming player from the third team, not NY (as they got Brunson in the deal).  They could bring in a player into the large TPE and turn around and trade that player to Dallas for Brunson.  Seems like a lot of trouble unless Dallas is paying up for this, or the third team dumping said player is a requirement in a larger deal where NY uses Fournier and/or Randle in a trade match for a star.

It is also possible NY is keeping this open in case Dallas finds a deal it wants and is willing to pay NY something for making Brunson a three way.  No idea what the asking price would be.  I’ve said before I’d rather pay up if there is an incoming player.  I’m not in favor of sending out much in the way of compensation  just for a TPE.

Better be a GOOD player IMO if you are going to pay an asset.

NBA Live 02 on the OG Xbox was the best basketball game ever created.

Also Dreamcast over N64 is a fineable offense.

NBA Live has never been good.  Thank God that series is dead.  Dreamcast came after the N64 generation but:  PSX > N64.  Dreamcast was an arcade lovers dream.  N64 also had one of the worst modern controllers known to man.

GOAT Basketball game is Konami's Run and Gun with all due respect to NBA Jam and NBA Showtime.

I just remember having to have a long sit down with my brother to choose between a Dreamcast and N64 and N64 was just by far the best choice. Also their controllers were iconic!!! Best shape for Mario Kart.

NBA Jam was the best casual basketball game. I stand by my NBA Live 02 on Xbox as the best basketball game.
