I really don't know what bothers Cuban here. I am following most of Mavs content and I find The Athletic one of best, right up there with ESPN regarding depth and quality of articles.

I wouldn't say "serious problems" but I think they have a serious chance to miss the playoffs.

538.com has predictions for this season and I basically agree with their take on the Lakers which is a 66% chance to make the playoffs (less than the Mavs which have a 68% chance). But if things go RIGHT for the Lakers then a 11% chance to win it all (versus the Mavs which are less than 1%).

Not making the playoffs is a serious problem when you are that overhyped 

Watching LeBron go to the Finals that many years in a row has always made me think he would have seasons later in his career when his body might start to break down. I think missing the playoffs last year was actually good for him, but I don't think he will be able to be what he once was, mainly defensively. 

And, I agree that he will likely miss games this year. The Lakers are going to get enjoy paying a superstar on the decline. Will be interesting to see how he takes to losing should it go down that way. He says he's ready for AD to be the #1, but I don't know that AD is ready for that or will have the health to do it either..
