the lakers would have swept even without the injuries. this is an incredibly lopsided finals. rondo 16 pts 10 ast. AD and Lebron just trying to stat pad to get the finals mvp which is the only thing still up in the air

In before @"robillionaire" writes something about Rondo, who legitimately looks like a hall of famer in these playoffs and especially this series.

I disagree with the first part, but we'll never know.

Either way, I think it's a shame that the FINALS are maybe the worst series of the entire playoffs, which were AMAZING.

Maybe not swept, but my initial prediction was Lakers in 4 or 5. I had it as a gentleman's sweep. Nobody on Miami is checking AD. He's on another level right now. I've been pulling for Miami and they're a really likable team but I don't think the matchup favored them at all.
@"robillionaire" I liked Miami in this series for two reasons:

1) I thought Dragic and Herro were going to chew those old defenders up. I think it's safe to say I had that wrong. Herro is clearly not ready for this level of intensity quite yet. He finally looks like a rookie.

2) I thought Bam would have stretches where he not only slowed AD down but dominated the game. I still believe that would've been the case. It just sucks, man. He's the Heat's best player by a mile.

Gotta be even tougher for Celtics fans to watch Rondo shred that zone without even moving his feet than it is for Mavericks fans. Not only is he a former Celtic, but they just watched Tatum, Kemba and Smart all take turns dribbling right into the teeth of it. Rondo and James are destroying it with the pass, like people who actually understand basketball.

Still, it's not the same defense with Olynyk in there for Bam, obviously.

As much grief as we give Rondo around here (I think he deserves it) it must be stated and overstated (for fairness) that he has absolutely played amazing basketball in these playoffs. When the guy who every opposing defense is hoping takes every shot consistently buries them, opening things up for him to do the things he actually does well, the writing is on the wall. I don't think the Lakers would've even made it to the finals without him playing at this level, let alone win them.

And BTW, who tf told KCP he was allowed to become an actual good shooter?

Ugh. I just hate the Lakers so, so, so much.
I thought the Heat had a punchers chance before that injury filled game one. The non-Lebron/AD Lakers have been great and Rondo has been amazing.

I agree with that analysis. If I could defend Herro, who hasn't been great, tonight he became the youngest player in NBA history to start in a finals game. and he did have 17 7 and 3. So hopefully people won't be too hard on this kid. He's far and away exceeded expectations for him in his rookie season.

Bam had been dealing with the shoulder injury ever since the Bucks series if not earlier. Eventually it caught up with him. But if I'm Miami I'm more concerned with not rushing him back for a more serious injury as he should be a major part of their future going forward. Dragic was a huge loss for them as well. It's a same we were robbed of the more competitive series that we deserved.

AD could have done it in New Orleans, right?
Lakers have the size and high IQ passers to thwart the Miami zone. Boston didn't. Can't believe that the Lakers took 47 3pt attempts, especially not being a great 3 pt shooting team. Game one was more of a aberration, more than anything else.
Playoff Rondo shooting 44.7% from deep.

RIGHT???? He's even shooting free throws well enough to get by.

I swear that I, with my own eyes, have seen this dude do the dumbest things imaginable hundreds of times over the past 8 years just to avoid the possibility of having to embarrass himself at the free throw line. This is NOT in my mind, it's reality.

But you'd never know he had ever been that guy if you first noticed him in these playoffs. He looks like freaking 2011 Jason Kidd. He makes the right play almost every trip down the court, buries big shots constantly and is a huge factor on defense. I can't believe what I'm watching.
Go Heat!

Such a gutty performance. Herro and Robinson still haven't played well, so it was so lucky that they got such a great game out of Olynyk.

Still a shame that they had to play games 2 and 3 without two of their three best players. I swear this is a different series if they don't get hurt.

Wish we knew the date for WCS. I still 100% believe he'll opt in, but I hope it happens before the draft.

Likewise with THJ's option. I remember not too long ago that his option deadline was scheduled after the draft. But after all the date shifting who knows now.

There is a list out there of players with unusual dates.  Neither WCS nor THJ are on that list.  So, their decision day is is the normal day which I believe is TBD, but after the draft.
Bam Adebayo is such a monster.
The Lakers' defense right now is one of the most stifling I've ever seen in the NBA. I would hate to play against it.

Why foul Kuzma? Just let him miss for you.
