Isaiah Thomas or bust?

Well, if it is an agents favor I go with Lance.  His old agent is also Beal's agent.

Not the Mavs fault that TOR doesn't want to help them out.

If they really wanted Dragic they can expend the asset(s) TOR is looking for. I like Dragic alot. I wouldn't touch Dragic with a 10ft pole if he is going to cost a FRP (or Green).

I ride the fence on this one.  I agree that we shouldn't give up major assets, but I'm still not remotely sold on Green as an NBA player.

And I feel Dragic has been underrated his whole career.  He was still pretty good when healthy last season.

Mavs have so many things on the roster except a secondary playmaker.  They need one.
Can I play Devil's Advocate on Green for a minute?

I don't get the reluctance to trade him. He's a FRP that maybe was taken a little early, depending on who you want to listen to. Athleticism and 6'10" wingspan are the attributes that got him selected as a possible 3-D guy. Hasn't shown enough in either phase to warrant all this attachment, IMO. Shooting stats were abysmal in limited play last season, but they weren't spectacular at AZ to begin with. At his position, if you can't shoot reliably, you are not going to have an opportunity to show your defensive ability, except in limited situations. Probably should have stayed in college for another season or two, but saw a chance at a payday (although I can't fault him for that).

DAL has pretty much sucked at drafting, Dirk and Luka aside, and the 2020 draftees aren't inspiring anyone. I've seen depth charts here that slot Green in as the backup to THJ, but I cringe at the thought. He could barely get off the bench in the Olympics where he was slotted at the #3 shooting guard for Australia behind Dante Exum (OK, there) and 32-year old Chris Goulding.

Sorry, but right now I just see Josh Green as an asset for building the team we want instead of the team we have.

Agree that Green and his value has been heavily overstated around here, though I haven’t given up.

Agree that moving him in the right deal, while he still has a bit of unknown promise, is probably going to look like the right way to go in hindsight a few years from now. No objection to viewing him that way at all.

I THINK the majority of the opposition to considering him as a throw-in for Dragic is the age of the players in question. Dragic is the right player for this team, but he won’t be for very long, and is at an age where we can’t even confidently predict he’ll be healthy and effective for this season’s playoffs. I think people are just sick of throwing young players in the dirt, so much so that even guys like Green seem to be prized assets.

I'm not incredibly attached to Green (though I do believe there is a chance he can become something good).

I just don't think it's wise spending this asset on a 35 year old expiring PG. Dragic fills an incredible need, but I don't think we're at the stage of desperation where we need to throw anything and everything for short term stop-gaps.

I'm happy to throw Green in other deals that nets the Mavs something more substantial and/or for a player that will hopefully be here for longer than 2 years.

Nico:  "Daryl, this is Nico of the Mavs.  We'll give you Josh Green, Dwight Powell, Trey Burke and a can of SPAM...the new kind...RIGHT NOW for Ben Simmons..."

And then he starts doing THIS....

I'm entirely convinced if Nico tried Dwight's negotiating strategy he'd be able to get AT LEAST Jokic and Simmons for Brunson and Powell.

Didn't Anthony Davis wear the exact same shirt during his last Pelicans home game?  Maybe it's the Rich Paul disgruntled player uniform...

That is correct, sir.

Might have to up the offer to SPAM w/Jalapenos to make it happen.
What's "the new kind" of spam? What changed with congealed processed meat parts? Raise your hand if you're old enough that your mom fed you spam even though you didn't live in Hawaii.
Morey's job should be on the line with the way he and the org have handled this.  The entire city and franchise took a big sh** on him, and then they expect to mend the differences?  Not only that, but they think he is worth prime Jordan in assets.

Worst part is that he is owed half of his 33 million this season by Oct 1.  That puts the Sixers in a terrible negotiating position.

Raises hand. I used to love it sliced thin and fried up on the electric skillet with some eggs! Haven’t had it in probably 20 years or more.

We fried it up, melted cheese over it, and made a sandwich. Man, this next part is crazy...it's probably been 35 years for me!
You guys are making me realize how privileged my childhood was. I can proudly say I have no clue what spam tastes like.

Nobody had to force me to eat it. I still have it occasionally.
