All this "starter" business regarding center gets in the way of the conversation. The Mavs are intentionally using a placeholder center. You can't sign a real starting center to play placeholder center. Seems to me that the only way to improve with bigs is to improve upon KP or improve the placeholder. If they don't want to improve upon KP, then significant improvement to the roster probable has to be in the form of a wing that can play 4 when KP plays his best position (center), or a more well rounded 2 or 3 that can still make 3's and play D. In otherwords, upgrade the non Luka and KP spots but don't do it with a center.

But still... Makes you wonder why the rumor came up in the first place.

That’s if you take Cuban at his word. He would have no incentive to confirm that rumor.

This just makes me think that the rumor was leaked by someone on the Brooklyn side or in Kyrie‘s camp.

Does sound like Brooklyn wanted to leak this. Probably to drive up the offers. No way the Mavs trade KP for Irving.

Kyrie does come off the books a year sooner than KP. Just in time to create max room the year the Jokic happens to be a free agent. Maybe Nico is planning ahead.
Just depends on which would you rather have, an undependable Kyrie or an inconsistent Kristaps?   Trade might be a wash either way.
I do not want Kyrie and his antics anywhere near this team and especially not Luka influencing him.

Hard no for me

Hard no for me

And for me as well.
Lakers players are crazy overvalued... If THT, Nunn and Monk are a good deal for Grant, than Mavs can easily match that offer. Both Monk and Nunn are expiring and likely gone after the season unless Detroit gives them a hefty salary. So what is left is THT. One could say that Brunson, Green, salary filler and perhaps a FRP are way better offer.

I like the Dallas proposal a lot, though. Unfortunately Philly would likely not agree with me.

As much as I dislike Kyrie the person, I love Kyrie the basketball player.

Getting a year off of KP's contract and then having the freedom to build a normal frontcourt with a defensive mindset would go a long way in my opinion.
For those keeping track, today is December 15th. Free agents signed this summer are now eligible to be traded, and the rumors should start heating up.

I think there is no other player that would fit better and could be reachable this TDL.

Zion Williamson

Derived from heifer (n.) - a young cow.

Example sentences. Zion must weigh more than that heifer - he's hefty.
If Grant would be ideal ... although it seems complicated with all the suitors he would have .. A combo of one of Covington / Nance + E.Gordon ... that doesn't seem unattainable, I think it would improve the team a lot.

Begley writes untruths to stir up clicks all the time. The Knicks players universally have obvious utter contempt for him in pressers.
checking out a Pacers forum and saw them say Levert to Mavs for a 2025 first.  I was ok, but that didn't really interest me.   But they are proposal DFS, Maxi and 2025 for Levert.  Huh?

edit- I thought this was a Pacers podcast.  It appears just an NBA one.   Weird trade idea though.
