It fits what they have been doing all season long. They are playing a lot of lineups with two small guards and three bigs. Now Rubio is out for the season. He was really important for them as a floor general. With three bigs in the starting five they need someone that can set them up. Rondo isn´t nearly as good these days but on paper he should be able to play a similar role.

I think rondo is just meant to be a Band-Aid until they make a bigger move this year. I still think Cleveland might be the one that ends up with Simmons. The jokes going to be on them once they realize that rondo sucks.

I know that, I question the replacement. Other than slight playoff revival with Lakers in their tital run, Rondo was bad for several seasons now. Atlanta was looking for an experienced vet to help with their bench last season and gave up on the experimetn by TDL. Rubio role from bench was much bigger than anything near what Rondo showed in a long time. Is Rondo really that much better at this stage than (for example) Pangos? Plus all the drama he brings.

That could be a disaster for Cleveland. As much of a team cancer Rondo can be I wouldn't want Rondo anywhere near their young guys if I was Cleveland

Well if Fox isn't on the block he definitely should be now. That or Haliburton, Bagley and everyone else is on the block.

I had no idea Simmons has been accruing so much in fines this year.   Makes Philly's hand even less advantageous in trade discussions....added to Philly less than inspired play this year too.
