Not necessarily related to everything happening in this thread, just a random thought I had reading this.

Agreed.  I just think allowing a thread to veer off topic is better than squashing discussion.

And I think every single thread becoming the exact, same conversation is what squashes participation more than anything.

Also the name of Luka's first sex tape.

These two will only get better with time.

It would be one tough pill to swallow if the end result is a trade for someone underwhelming or even a player "who-on-paper-should-be-better" but doesn't have the same chemistry with Luka.

An even tougher pill if the Mavs would attempt a half-hearted approach to re-signing him and they end up with nothing.
I think this is a game of chicken with Wood. It’s a good test for the new front office. Both sides have much to lose if there isn’t an extension. I don’t remember the exact number but i believe it’s 7 teams in 8 years Wood has played for. If no deal is reached we would need to trade him. That would be team 8. And possibly team 9 in FA. This is a bad look and a risk for him. Only bad teams will pay him market rate. If he TRULY is ok with this path then that would say a lot about him…..i don’t think Wood wants that though. He likes it here and he now has that taste of winning. We should hold firm on 2/35 no year 3 PO. That’s fair for half a season of proving it and zero playoff proof

Brunson was saying exact same things. Until he wasn't

Kinda got to leave when another team offers more money and a chance to possibly be the #1 guy

Which is why trade or extension are the only options. I fear Mark has yet to learn this lesson. Nico needs to step up and be the adult in the room

This made me actually lol

I agree. But you seem very convinced Wood will take 2 years at 36 mil. I don't like the trade option if he doesn't take that and I think it is quite likely he doesn't want to.

I think he could easily get more total money in the summer. Even if he would have a bad playoff run, he is probably still worth full MLE, which goes over 40 mil for 4 years. If he has a good playoff run, he could easily go for 80 mil or more. So three years or even four are more acceptable result for me than trading him for a protected FRP.

Don´t disagree with the general notion that Wood has been good (2nd best player). But were was this attitude after the Clippers game. Or after the Celtics game.
I think the 2 yr deal is in play...
It will end up costing more than 3 yrs on the extension, because Wood is about to play himself out of the extension market, just like Brunson did last year when the TDL hit.

I mean, tonight included, there have been some absolute shit shows from everybody in the last several games. Big daddy Wood showed everybody something tonight. I'm hoping we can see Josh and DFS back out there soon, so they can finally start building the chemistry.

"You're a defensive liability and has bounced around the league, we can still offer you 36M for 2 years because I happen to be in a good mood today and feeling generous. Take it or we'll trade your ass"

Luka had 5 fouls. Why do you have to create your own translation to ding Luka?
