A bit more observations. OKC bench doesn't score a lot, but they are very efficient. Minny and Indy have two players averaging over 10 ppg each. Mavs best is Lively with 7.9. As we all know, our three bench guards (Green, THJ, Exum) are contributing very little on offense. Green 5.1 points, THJ miserable 2.7 points (on 3.7 shots) and Exum even more miserable 2 points on 3.3 shots.

As bad as Luka has been, THJ and Exum are in a league of their own. Doncic is scoring 1,15 points per attempt. THJ is at 0,7 and Exum is at 0,6 points per attempt. Kyrie is killing it with 1,43 points per attempt. Just as a comparison, SGA is at 1,35 points per attempt.

Team; bench salary; average bench minutes per game in playoffs; average bench points per game in playoffs
East:
Boston: bench salary: 28; bench minute per game: 81; bench points per game: 24
Cleveland: 49; 85; 22
Indy: 48; 66; 34
Knicks: 53; 50; 16 (30 mil in Bogi and Burks who don't play at all, most of the rest for Robinson. Number gets higher with Randle in and one of currect starters to the bench)

West:
Denver: 26; 48; 14
Minny: 45; 75; 39
OKC: 54; 77; 22 (31.5 mil of it is Hayward, who will play for much less money next season)
Dallas: 52; 75; 25

Dallas has third most expensive bench which will get more expensive when Greens new deal kicks in next season. Knicks and OKC are more expensive based on some bloated expiring deals. Looks like Minny and Indy are getting most from their bench. Boston bench is very decent based on the salaries invested. Contributing same numbers as twice as expensive Mavs bench.

It would be interesting to see the plus/minus numbers for each bench, as well. After all, isn’t that the primary function of the subs? As a minimum, not to give up leads.

Not quite sure how I feel about lumping dead salary in with the bench. It’s certainly an important number, since it shows how accurately the front office guessed about player productivity, health, and fit. But is it a good measure of bench strength?

Another thing that might create noise: how coaches deploy their bench minutes. For example, any Dallas minutes with Luka or Kyrie off the floor should have an offensive disadvantage.

It's a major disadvantage with neither on the floor, and the advantage goes to the other team if I'm understanding you correctly.  Doesn't Kidd stagger their minutes so one of them is always out there?   If either one isn't, who's going to score consistently or run the offense?

I mean honestly, when you look at our bench of Lively/Maxi/Timmy/Green/Exum it looks good.  Lively is a top 5 rookie, Maxi has been finishing games, Timmy was a 6th man candidate earlier in the season and both Green and Exum have spent time starting.  If healthy, I think this would be one of the best benches in the playoffs.  But Maxi is out, Timmy has been in total funk since TDL and just coming off injury, Green is taking a long time to get back from his injury (which is a problem with him) and Exum has never been the same since his injury.

Next season will probably look different salary wise.  It seems very unlikely that Timmy will still be on the team, and I think there is a decent change Green goes too.  If those two go out for a starter upgrade and we manage hold onto DJJ with the tax MLE the bench salary will look a lot better.
On a totally different topic, who is the Kerr Keriisa kid orginally from Estonia? He's talking s**t about Luka stealing his number and how it's easy to get into Luka's head.

Just went through the portal from West Virginia to Kentucky after playing 3 years at Arizona. Sounds like he's either gone to the portal or threatened to go just about every offseason. Career averages of 9.7ppg/2.3 rpg/ 4.7 apg.

Says Luka stole "77" from him.

He's 23, about a year younger than Luka, but is still playing NCAA ball and is likely on nobody's draft radar. So at best he'll be a 24yo rookie, if he even gets a contract. We all know what Luka's accomplished by age 24.

Wondering if he was ever any kind of wunderkind in Europe that would warrant his big mouth over here.

I am not sure I have read anything so ridiculous before. Kid is younger than Luka and claims Luka stole "his" number... What did he do to earn a claim for sole possession of that number? There are thousands of basketball players around the world and I would assume Luka and this nobody are not the only ones wearing 77.

Luka took 77 because 7, which was his number in Europe, was "stolen" by Powell.

Guy is a "nobody", played against Luka once and is being smart. Slovenia won that game by 20. Luka scored 25 points on 9 of 18 shooting with 11 rebounds and 8 assists. "Nobody" got 14

Btw, he is wearing number 25 on his Arizona jersey on the wiki page. So there must be some other player(s) "stealing" "his" number there too. Just all around ridiculous. But I guess nowadays is enough to say something stupid to make the media.

Numbers 6, 7 , 8 and 9 are illegal on any American basketball jersey below the NBA.

Interesting, didn't know that. I googled it for the reasons about it. Though it seems they changed the rule, as this article says he will wear 77 at Kentucky

Kerr Kriisa will wear No. 77 for Kentucky, a number he says Luka Doncic stole from him (msn.com)

The infuriating thing about this clip is how so many people on the first few rows aren’t even watching! There’s a couple of women who are just casually chatting and that old glam rocker looking freak looks like he’s died in his seat!!

Yep. I’m a new fan. Didn’t know who Kyrie was kissing after game 2. So I asked the google machine.

Edit: oh wait, wrong gal.

Haha… I like the level of detail you‘re putting into your playoff game analysis, not skipping  any hot ladies in the front rows!

OMG! I was about to post about this very thing but decided not to! I showed it to my wife who will sit down and “watch” the Mavs with me on occasion. It’s crazy because you have these rabid fans who would love to have those seats, and then you see these people (primarily, but not exclusively, women) who are not even watching the game! It’s been a bit, but I counted at least 6 people not even looking.   The two middle age women who are having a conversation about what’s on sale on Wayfair takes the cake.
Pat and Brit liked it.

Always love these type of games. I'm of course biased. Went with:

Luka ($7)
Kyrie ($3)
Caruso ($1)
Isaac ($1)
Wemby ($3)

In a world where injuries can't happen, I think this is a formidable team. Also was tempted to replace Kyrie and go with White and OG instead. But chemistry matters on my superteam!
Suggs (1)
Edwards (5)
Bridges (2)
Powell (x)
Jokic (7)
Jalen with 28 at half. Man I miss playoff Luka.

Knicks have a 27 to 13 rebound advantage at half. Myles Turner has 1 rebound. He has way too many of these type of games. Frustrating player

Something tells me Jalen would have a different experience against OKC defense vs Pacers.
