DSJ looks slower and heavier in that video, and with that shot mechanics, good luck. Injuries seem to have really taken its toll. For a player that relies heavily on his athleticism, its not looking good for him.

I was always so confused by his endurance level
Really thought an asthma diagnosis or something would eventually pop up. That second year I still remember him being completely gassed and out of breath 5 minutes into the 1st quarter of the first summer league game. He was acting like it was overtime in a game 7 where he'd play 50+ minutes
That was the point I lost all hope in him

Not reading to me like a deal is coming.
Nico’s style is to come at you out of the rising sun, it seems. But what’s Indy gonna do next and why can’t it involve us?

Now that you mention it, literally every trade Nico has made has come out of nowhere. Like not even a rumor until the last 10-15 mins IF that.

KP trade- it was all TOR leading up to the TDL, and even then that was that morning. Then boom 10 mins left we get a deal out of nowhere with WAS who NO one even hinted was a possibility.

Wood- Again everyone knew we wanted a big man, and we speculated the options, but seriously not a single rumor about Wood to the Mavs. And again it came out of nowhere.

Hardy-Some posturing about "if there's someone we like we'll make a move", but no one brought up Hardy as someone the Mavs were targeting.

So you have a point. There may be something coming, and it may be something we aren't expecting at all.

Yeah, there isn't going to be a heads up for us on any trades with Nico unless the opposing team leaks something. But I think his style as a GM won't even let an opposing GM know he is really interested until he says "yes." I think he is always going to play it low-key and chill and it is going to seem like they are standing pat (that is his style we should get used to) and then suddenly there will be a trade.
So apparently the Mavs DID work hard to sign and trade with NYK to GET an asset. But NYK refused to give any assets to DAL (talking a pick) and preferred to give any assets to DET. DAL apparently didn't see a TPE as an asset they wanted. The Mavs wanted a pick.
MacMahon suggests that RC was the big factor of why the Mavs never succeeded on the free agency front for the decade after the title. He flat out says that stars did NOT want to play with him. He says JK is much different and guys want to play with him.
Yeah man. No way we pull off a major signing like McShaqtin if RC is still here.

His lack of endurance always stood out for me too.

Mavs also got compared to the LeBron-Cavs. It was questioned how they plan to put another star next to Luka with no caproom and owing future picks. Also got brought up that there wasn’t much young talent around Luka to begin with and that they have „butchered“ the Brunson-situation.

I REALLY hope we get A TON more negative press from the national media quickly.

Windhorst also brought up that we haven’t paid the tax in a long time.
Windhorst: Mavs have a reputation of being „aggressive“ (financially/tax-wise) but have not really earned it/lived up to it for a long time.

Do players want to play with Luka though?  I know it will be a touchy topic but regardless of his assists it can’t be easy to play alongside such a ball dominate guard.  Sure he makes the game easier in many ways but also makes it difficult in other ways.    Plus despite being a great catch and shoot guy he doesn’t seem to be one who wants to play off the ball much.

The best Mavs offense was Luka, JB, and SD doing their own thing and breaking down defenses.  GS defended that very well. IMO Boston would have too.  Whoever wants to sign here will be leery knowing how ball dominate Luka is.

This is a very legit question. One I think most Mavs fans will refuse to stare at.

I think how CW plays alongside Luka is REALLY important this year. The rest of the NBA needs to see Luka's game mesh with another "star" level talent and for Luka to raise his game. So far what the NBA world has seen is KP not meshing with Luka. And JB being better WITHOUT Luka.

If players get paid well, they can learn to play with anyone. It's only the superstars that can occasionally decide that it matters.

I doubt you see a player telling their agent, "Let's turn down that offer because I'm not sure Luca is a good fit for me."

Bontemps: this looks like the 2006-2007 Cleveland Cavaliers. No young talent and no obvious plan to get Luka any help. They’re closer to a play in team than a contender.

Damn that was 21 minutes of three guys laying the smackdown on this sad franchise. Sad

All that was missing was them making fake Luka trades at the end. Big Grin
