Was only a matter of time.

I mean he has a point. It's nonsensical benching your 2nd best scorer just because.

Wood had several defensive lapses out there. His rim protection was non-existent. And yet THJ still gets 4 more minutes than him blowing wide open transition layups and not making a single shot to go along with literally turnstile perimeter D. Bullock can't buy a bucket and also can't move his feet. Heck Javale McGee seems to have a longer leash than Wood. N-O-N-S-E-N-S-I-C-A-L

I don't know what Kidd's plans are here, but it's like he's trying to get fired. He's outsmarting himself and growing ire within a team where there is literally no reason to.

Still, early in the season and all. Hopefully they figure it out, but right now Wood doesn't seem to be in this team's long term plans and they should trade him ASAP to cash in if that's the case. In the meantime Wood has earned the right to complain. Put Kidd on the hot seat cause that seems to be the only thing he responds to.

I was already expecting:
  • THJ not to pass it
  • THJ to blow the layup
And no, this isn't just this season. This happened before even if those times he was supposedly "good".
I'm taking bets Wood walks at the end of the season, if this $hit doesn't change.

Just say it Iztok: It is TERRIBLE COACHING. That's what it is.
Don't get attached to Wood...
Worse than the Wood situation which is already bad, it feels like we are headed to a panic trade when we are oh so close to asset flexibility again.

I bet they aren't.

I bet the sole goal of this season is to get below that luxury tax line, ASAP.

So, maybe there's a deal out there to bring in an expiring contract for someone like Bertans, Bullock or THJ, but I don't see them sending out Wood or Powell, both of whom are expiring, for longer term salary.

There is not and the Mavs would not do it, cause it makes us worse. Or at least that is what Cuban believes. LOL.

Two months ago there were people seriously arguing that THJ is better than Westbrook. I know it truly happened. Hiliarously Westbrook is not only shooting a higher FG percentage than THJ right now. He´s also shooting a higher percentage from three.  Big Grin

Bald guy in his 40s rocking the backwards cap. Kidd has bigger problems than roster moves or rotations.
Luka 28 % from 3
Bullock 29% from 3 (boy are his starts ugly early)
DFS  33% from 3
Hardaway 31 % from 3 (32% overall ouch)

On the flip side, I will be surprised if Dinwiddie stays above 40% from three.  In fact, I wish he would cut down on his 7 attempts a game and get more baskets going to the rim.

I think history has shown Luka, Bullock and DFS will eventually shoot better.  Hopefully Hardaway follows.    While this will not solve all ills it will certainly help.

Looking at this summer, you can make the case the Mavs were right that they needed to be bigger to rebound better and protect the paint.  They just chose the wrong player...so far.   I have also seen enough of Facu to say he is a fit of a emergency point.  He can fill that role.   He would not have been my choice and I think the Mavs should have been more aggressive on a player who can play more...but minutes are tricky.

Looking forward, I am happy with the progress with Josh Green.  Lets hope it continues.  I also think Hardy is an important developmental piece.   We will see if he ever makes it but finding young talent to develop has always been a weak spot here.

Lastly, it would be ideal if this team could identify not realized talent and swoop in.  It is really hard.    I was looking at Jordan Clarkson the other day and saw Utah picked him up by trading Dante Exum and two seconds.   There are a lot of guys out there....finding them is the tough part.  Unfortunately our front office does not inspire much confidence.

The problem with Westbrook is (and has always been) that he must be on ball to play well. That's why he's playing better lately, because he's on ball much more. First, they moved him to the bench (which he refused for years) and now Lebron is out, providing even more opportunity.

If he can only play well on ball, and if, when he plays on ball, your team isn't any good (which seems to be the case these past several years) then it's really, really easy to understand why nobody wants him. That's damage to the cause THJ (or any other non-star, off-ball player) couldn't inflict if they were trying to lose games for you.
