DAL to pick #26. It is official.
2 round sleeper.

Long-term prospect, but i would compare him to Giddey.

26th pick. Could have gone to 23rd, if they had tanked the last game. Oh well. Cry

Anyways, I looked at Kamagate. I like that he finished with both hands around the rim with little hookshots. He´s very raw, almost clumsy, but there is potential. He played in the French 2nd division last year, got his team promoted, so clearly contributed to winning at a young age. Then went to work with Holger in the summer and translated his stats from the lower league 1 to 1 into the top league. I´m sure we´ll have the inside track on this kid. French-African background usually means soccer growing up, means already good footwork and spacial awareness. If Holger says he got it, I trust his opinion a lot more than any scout on the Mavs. That being said he´s projected #31 right now. I think it´s worth considering buying an early to mid 2nd round pick for him.

Tankathon currently has Jaden Hardy projected to fall to the Mavs at #26 behind his G-League struggles. When you have the top ranked guard out of highschool falling to you at #26, you just take him and ask questions later. He looks great physically. A fast athletic  6´5 SG would fit perfect with Brunson and Luka. His shot mechanics look fine to me, despite the bad G-League numbers. Also a bad year in the G-League and falling to #26 pick would put a chip on the shoulder of a player that plays with some arrogant swagger as far as I can see.
i am not sure where the need is, maybe another rolling big who can protect rim/change shots. id take BPA at this point, maybe an injured guy falls like porter jnr
Not a lot of overseas prospects besides Jovic and Kamagate. The 26th pick would be the right place for a traditional draft and stash in Europe for a few more years. Will be hard for a rookie to get meaningful minutes next season

Jović is one of the more overrated prospects in this draft in my opinion. He has shown some flashes of playmaking and shot creation, but I have a hard time seeing him being a better player than Nemanja Bjelica(who was missused almost his whole prime in the NBA). He will really struggle toguard anyone in the league, so I would stay away from him.

So I made a promise to give my evaluation of the other prospect and here I am... I'll start with EJ Liddell. First of all let me say that I think he will be a good defender in the league. He has a strong body and will be able to bang with the stronger guys in the league, and it will also help him with the contests/blocks. Great timing and feeling on his help defense at the rim. I also like the his feet are quick enough to slide with the wing players(for example he was great guarding Banchero). All in all I'm not worried about his defense. I have a hard time seeing him as a good small ball C, since he misses a few inches of height/wingspan
But when it comes to his fit with the Mavs, offense is the problem. Most of his offense came from postups(and we all have seen how that looked like with Luka and the others). He is really bad attacking with the face to the basket and with dribble penetration. He's an OK shooter, but I don't really see him ever being a great/elite shooter... All in all I really like his defense, but am also worried about his offensive fit with the Mavs..

Next up i Malaki Branham. I am a big fan of his. On the offensive side he can create for himself, he can really shoot the ball and he can also go to the rim. he takes and makes tough shoots, the only thing here is that he can sometimes have somewhat of a tunnel vision, but I can easly see him benefiting from more space in the NBA. A really smart offensive player.
On defense, he is very solid. Able to guard 1-3, can see him also being able to cointain 4 once he gets more muscle. Quick and reactive feet and also smart on that end. He will never be a first team all defense player, but he'll good on that end. Also 6'5 with 6'11 WS(and that's huge).
Would love if he would fall to the Mavs.

If the Mavs end up with one of Brown, Branham, Wesley I would be thrilled. Also Braun and Hardy would be nice

Depends on the drafted position.  We are rolling out Green, Bertans and a smidge of Bubble in the playoffs to fill holes.  That's 20+ minutes that could be upgraded if we hit on the pick.
Does that make for a poor projected draft class?
One guy I can see in making it in the league is Keion Brooks Jr. He probably goes undrafted or late in the 2nd round, but watching Kentucky I really liked his defense and lenght. He somehow reminds me of a younger DFS, has some similar movements and a fairly similar skillset. He is listed at 6'7, but He is bigger IMO. Also has a 7'1 wingspan and is really agile.
Really liked his impact on defense, usually defending the best wing players and doing a nice job, also smart on defense, with good help defense and rotations.
Isn't exactly the ost skilled player on ofense, but he hustles and is very solid in the midrange, good ofensive rebounder, and the shot doesn't look that bad(shot just 23,3% from 3, but has been good from the FTs - 78% & 79% in the last 2 seasons).
I think he can end up being a very solid rotational player in the league
I have decided we need to add a 1st round pick. I want Liddell AND Koloko. They seem the exact right combination. One a small ball big with a strong body and shotblocking ability. The other a more traditional rim-running legit center with shot-blocking ability. This could set our cap situation up nicely for the future, too.
This guy looks like a long-term project, but with really high ceiling. If the players like Hardy, Branham, Agbaji, McGowens go before our pick, Miller should be one of interesting players in our range.

I have a (maybe stupid) question about draft picks.

To explain:

OKC has stockpiled a TON of draft picks over the next few years:

2022 - 3x 1st & 2x 2nd
2023 - 4x 1st & 4x 2nd
2024 - 3x 1st & 6x 2nd
2025 - 4x 1st & 8x 2nd

Which is waaaay more than they can absorb without basically turning over the team yearly.

My question is, if OKC trades a pick, does it have to be for another pick and/or warm body? I'm wondering if Presti could simply auction off one of his picks to the highest bidder? Could LAL come in and offer, say $10MM, for a pick just outside the lottery? I have no idea if that's even a realistic price for the pick. Is there a way to value the picks other than the rookie scale for the pick sequence? What about 2nd round picks (no rookie scale for them)?

I think I've heard of NFL teams buying picks before, but don't recall anything similar in the NBA.

Cash limits in trades is ~$5.8M per team per year.
So if Presti wanted to pick up some pocket change, he could just sell a pick?

I guess he could spend several in a few years to trade LAL for LBJ and draft Bronnie. Or trade for AD and let the Bronnie thing happen in LA.
