The only thing that makes me ok with this is that the Mavs DID bring him in for a workout.

I really hope that he is moving better than he did in the g-league. From what I have seen he cannot get by or stay in front of a traffic cone. If that hasn´t changed I just cannot imagine any kind of role for him in the NBA.

I guess I don't know what athleticism is.

Yeah, you're right.  I have no idea how Uncle John ever managed to finagle that gig writing for The Athletic.

Oh well ...

This is everything to me.

If the Mavs brought him in and he showed he CAN move his feet at an NBA level and have an NBA first step, then great, let's role. But if he doesn't, like it seems from film? Ugh.

would love to see John Butler, Trevian Williams, Kenneth Lofton, Kofi Cockburn, Ziga Samar on our summer league team....at least one of them.  The centers may not be NBA players but they would be fun to watch.  Butler is a long way away.  Ziga would be a hat tip to Luka.
Hardy did shoot 38% from three in his last 5 games in the G League (21-55)....and shot 38% from the field overall. Dude's two point shot and shot selection SUCKS.

Mavs may not have a two way depending on what they think of Moses Wright.   I would assume Hardy will play in the G-league.    But we will see.

Kinda think they might be able to tell more from that than we can from video or Hollinger can from a faulty formula. Also glad that we’re testing the Clutch waters with a low-cost kid instead of a pricey one.
Well, fun night.  We will see how it turns out for the Mavs.  The Jalen Speculation sucks though.   The next week or so is going to be stressful.

John Hollinger currently writes for The Athletic, was the VP of Basketball Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies, was a columnist at ESPN and Sports Illustrated, and was a world champion "baller" in his youth [sure, it was foosball, but ... hey, ball is ball, after all].  He is the author of four basketball analytics books and is a titan of the NBA analytics community.

I'll be honest, I DO NOT CARE that he was ranked #2 coming out of high school. I bet he was #1 coming out of his elementary school too.

Some HS Hardy highlights.  You can understand why the G-league was a rough transition.  He pretty much could do what he wanted in high school and is not an A+ athlete.   Playing against bigger and older men plus dealing with a longer three was probably a big transition.   It should give him a head start entering the league though.

we will see if he works out, but I am anxious to see how the Mavs plan to develop him.

Wow.

My concern is that it looks like he is a C- level athlete.

Well they need to 1) change his freaking shot selection and 2) teach him how to play D.
