Interesting list...some names I thought were in odd spots but like hearing different opinions on where guys are rated.

Question would be if is still be eligible for a 2-way contract, after being waived by us?

Yes Mavs can sign him. The question is whether he is healthy to be available to improve his game. (If not, there's no point.)

Cool, i'd love to see him back on a 2-way then. His injury was late Dec with a estimated recovery of 4-6 months. So they should know by now and have him ready for summer league latest.

I too hope to see him on our summer league team with a camp invite.  I think him and Moses Wright probably deserve closer looks.  Now, making an NBA roster is so difficult, so both are long shots.  Both are older but have the builds teams are looking for.   In fact, I wonder if we bring both to camp and give them a chance to make the real roster?   If so, maybe use a draft pick in the mid second round and allow Wright, Eugene and draft pick battle out for the last roster spot.  Losers get the two ways.

Who knows though....maybe Eugene is out of our plans.  We will see.
Jaylin Williams may lack some of the explosion of similar rated prospects, but if he reaches to the 40's he is probably on top of my list to buy a pick for a developmental project.   Every team needs a guy that just pisses the other team off.  Jaylin with his charges will give teams fits.

He played really well down the stretch this year and is still young.  He didn't shoot particularly well this year but I think he will get better.  Besides elite athleticism, he does everything else well.   The lack of elite athleticism is definitely a concern and something that could make him to have a very short NBA career.   But he just feels like a guy who finds a way.

I think there is a better chance this year they get in the mid to high 40's than last year but probably not likely.

I don wonder if Dallas has interest in bringing back Moses Wright and even Eugene (who got hurt last year but showed some promise).  If there is interest in one or both, that would probably impact if they want to buy a pick too.

Correct, Philly bought it. Broke my heart when Dallas didn't buy it to draft Sims.
Mavs currently have 14 players, and that's considering JB is back, Frankie as well, Pinson gets to be the roster-spot taking towel waver and the 2-way is retained.

If they don't make any more trades then we're pretty sure 2 more guys are incoming.
One, a rotation piece at C, the other possibly one who goes undrafted and takes the other 2-way spot.

I'm pretty optimistic the Mavs would open the season with at least one rookie. Possibly a rookie big.

That's entirely reasonable.

However, I suspect the Mavs acquire center help with a trade. I would say both Powell and J. Green are still fodder in a possible trade for a big. I also still have my eye on Dragic in some form. So I would be surprised if the rest of FA played out with no more surprises.

Mavs actually have 13 players for next season, assuming Maxi, JB, FN and Pinson are back: (1) Luka, (2) THJ, (3) SD, (4) DB, (5) Powell, (6) Bullock, (7) Maxi, (8) DFS, (9) Green, (10) Brunson, (11) Ntilikina, (12) Pinson and (13) Wood.

I don't see Mavs getting another center beyond vet min, unless Wood is traded. Wood is a full time center, can't really play PF. Maxi and Powell are his back-ups with Maxi able to play PF and Powell not really. Sure Powell is overpaid for a role of a back-up center, but so would be any other center in his or higher price range. So I only see Powell possibly used in a trade for a big wing with a cheap alternative likely signed on FA market.

Powell is a useful regular season center, who will likely not play in play-offs, where 100 % of center minutes will go to Wood and Maxi.

Dragic would be a great fourth creator.

You may be right about that, but I think the Mavs will have another move later at the trade deadline. Powell's contract may have some real value to another team at that time. Still, it's hard to know what the Mavs are prioritizing now.

"You could’ve turned into Christian Braun. You could’ve turned into Trevor Keels."

I will give you one more guess.

Are those guys you don’t like? I haven’t really been following the draft thread this year because I thought the pick was getting traded.

I just wondered because of the author’s name. Didn’t mean any offense.
