I was reading on Reddit and someone mentioned they also took Luka out to Dinner so don't read to much into this.

Someone then responded saying maybe they saw how much he ate and decided not to draft him.    Big Grin

True story. Daryl Morey's analytics really liked Marc Gasol. However, there was a picture of Marc that surfaced that got him the nickname of "man boobs" in the front office. Morey actually passed on Gasol and admitted the nickname is what did it. He later banned nicknames among his staff afterwards. If a fatty can play draft them then try to get them to pick up better habits later

They should have fitted him with a "Bro". Or did they decide it was a "Manssiere"? I can't remember.

I have literally spent very little time looking at the top of the draft.   I liked what I saw with Keegan Murray when I saw him during the season.   I didn't think he would be in the top 5 though.   But maybe I just haven't watched him enough.

I did feel Ivey was a top 5 guy though.  He was fantastic at Purdue.

I believe the Kings should take the best player.    Don't worry about fit.  I don't care if they are drafting guards like a fetish.   Just take the guy you think will be the best player.  If you feel that is Keegan, than draft him.

Would it be cheaper to buy an early SRP or pay the tax on a Vet Min player?

It depends, but:

Assuming you sign the 2 using minimum, rather than some of MLE ...
Assuming you pay all the cash allowed 5.785M ....
Assuming Mavs sign JB for about 20M ....
Assuming Mavs don't find a way to shed a big chunk of payroll (to get in a lower tax bracket)....

If veteran signs a simple one-year league-subsidized minimum (no option, no trade bonus, no incentives) ....Then with tax, it's about 1.5M more for the pick
If veteran signs a minimum with frills, option, a 2nd year, etc ...Then with tax, it could be as much as 1.8M more for the veteran (exact salary depends on NBA tears of experience)
