John Butler has moved up on my list.
Very agile and moves his feet well. Shows signs of a big who can defend in space.
His shot looks very good, he even has a pull up jumper that some guards do not have.

The kid just needs to develop some muscles.

Probably won't be someone who will be a force in the middle at least on offense even with the added weight. And will most likely struggle against stronger forwards and centers, but rim protection will be there.

Obviously picking him up means you aren't picking someone who can help right away. Will probably be in the G-League for most of his first year, get minutes in his second and then break-out on his third year.

Butler has more upside than any other big in the late first and early second, I think the floor for him is slimmer-taller Maxi.

I'd probably won't pick him up at 26, but early second round? Absolutely.

Trade down:
Sterling Brown + 26 for Muscala + 34 (Butler)
Another trade down possibility. Orlando has the 32 and 35. Wonder if they would do a Ross and both seconds for Powell/Burke, Brown or Chriss/26?
Consensus mock draft, updated June 14...

For me that would be if Eason, Liddell, LaRavia, Dalen Terry, and Jalen Williams are all gone then I would be fine flipping #26 into an early 2nd rounder as there will be guys there that I still like.

I understand the thinking but I am typically against trading back in the NBA draft.  I am in favor of it in the NFL draft.

At pick 26, you really don't have great odds of finding a really good player, so do the work and make your best pick.  even if that player may be rated 10 spots higher in the consensus sites.  Moving back and picking up another second to increase your chances typically doesn't work out.

It does get the team out of a guaranteed contract though, doesn't it? If you don't see the talent at 26 you feel like investing in for 3-4 years, then move into the second and draft multiple prospects in the hope that one of them turns into something. Sort of substituting quantity for quality.

Yep, that or what I would prefer is trade for multiple future seconds, that cupboard is pretty bare too.

You may be right, but didn't Jalen and Terry get guaranteed deals.  Maybe shorter?   I tend to just focus on the talent acquisition and not the $.  I know $ is a big factor but I have always focused on finding the talent first.
ESPN has a mock this morning.  They had Beaucamp at 26

23 Hardy
24 Jovic
25 Liddell
26 Beaucamp
27 Terry
28 Laravia
29 Houston
30 Roddy
 others
32 Braun
33 Peyton Watson
34 Jaylin Williams
35 Keels
36 Wendell Morre
37 Koloko
38 Diop
39 McGowans
40 Kendall Brown
41 Baldwin
42 Bessen
43 Kamagate

45 Justin Lewis
46 Max Christie
47 Jd Davison
48 Minott

A lot of interesting guys in the second round who are probably two way guys to start out.

If all those guys are at 26 who is your pick?

LaRavia or Lidell cause they have the best looking back of the jersey names!!!

100% Eason.

Then Liddell. Then LaRavia and Terry (close tie there). Then Jalen Williams.

I have been cooling on Kendall recently, but think #40 is way too far for him to slip.

Marjon Beauchamp has been growing on me the more I watch him. Right now I have him and Kendall essentially tied on my board. Both are going to be good defenders and both have BIG questions marks about their shots.

Marjon is bigger and longer. Kendall is an ELITE, ELITE athlete.

I might slide Marjon ahead of Kendall because of G-League experience, but it is a tough call for me.

I know you’re not asking me, but I personally think Jalen Williams has the highest ceiling of that group. He has the potential to be a star, two-way wing given his ability to score and the top-end physical attributes that correlate with great defenders.

I think I might agree with this. I see Eason, Liddell, LaRavia, and Terry as all having potential to be ELITE level role players, but not sure any of them have "star" potential. I do think you see glimmers in Jalen of a higher ceiling because of his offensive skill set.
Not a big fan of most wing prospects in the late first round range. I get that athleticism and physical measurements are selling points but I would prefer a more well rounded player. I cannot imagine that Eason will be available at 26. Haven´t seen him lower than 15-20.
That´s why Liddell and LaRavia are by far my favorite prospects for the Mavs. Not as high on Beauchamp and Terry. Really low on Baldwin Jr and Brown.

Terry’s playmaking ability intrigues me a lot.  All these guys are good but he is the one I keep coming back to as someone who can take over running the point when Luka goes to the bench.
Check this clip from the 4:10 mark. A lot of players get assists running full speed and kicking it out to the outside shooter. What is different about Terry is that he is making precise passes both on the run and in the half court. This cannot be taught.
