Kidd was convicted on 2001 domestic charges and has had DWI in the past.

But I'm a firm believer that people can be rehabilitated. Scripture tells me to forgive the sinner and despise the sin. 

I'm not going to hold something that happened 20 years ago against Kidd right now unless he's shown he's still an abuser (which can be the case!).

Ok so regarding Kidd we had a good discussion about him earlier on the discord. We all agree wife beaters are the lowest of the low. And that was Kidd.

That was also Kidd 20 years ago. At what point does he deserve a 2nd chance? He owned him to those mistakes and there hasn't been anything happen since on that angle. I'm no wife beater but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had to deal with anger issues and part of anger issues is lashing out physically for some people. He got help and for all we can tell nothing has happened since. I can give a guy a 2nd chance if I believe they have truly changed. 

As far as Kidd the coach, he got fired from Brooklyn for 1 year for whatever reasons. Reports were a possible power grab or asking to be more hands on and I think maybe there was some ulterior motives we will never know from their FO. But it doesn't matter. It was 1 year as a rookie head coach. 

He was basically 500 in Milwaukee over 3.5 seasons. 
I realize that they got much better after he left. But they were still approaching 50 wins underneath him. The year after when they won 60 games they added Lopez, Mirotic, Illyasova. And ditched the likes of Greg Monroe and John Henson. They were an awful shooting team under Kidd because of personnel. Kidd had no favors with the personnel. Mavs may lack talent but they have the personnel to play a certain style. That roster was not good his entire stint outside the top few guys. 

So what do we know about Kidd as a coach? We know Giannis loved him and fought to keep them from firing him. We know Dame wanted him as HC (I have no idea why). We know Lebron wanted him. Bottom line, players absolutely love him as a HC. Giannis and Middleton developed tremendously under him. At the very least he's a good developer of talent. 

I think he's still very young in his coaching career and hopefully he's a bit better at X's and O's and adjustments. But we know he has an incredible basketball mind too.

I suggested him previously and got shot down. But there's alot to like here. I'm on board with him and have been from the beginning.

Well I´m sure if Carlisle knew, who the next GM is, he´d have announced that, too.

I could be wrong, but I think Kidd will be great for Luka. He's been around great players as a coach and obviously is a all time great player himself. I'm hoping for the best. I think Kidd could have a lot of upside and hopefully has learned a lot in LA. He's also been coaching LeBron which could help him coach Luka.

Tentacle Bob survives, right?  I think Cuban would have canned him at the first if he was really leaving.  Appears we are hiring former and current Cuban yes men.

Kidd has had two chances and was nothing great. Plus if just being a great guy, awesome PG and a legend was enough, then Magic would have been a great coach.
