Disagree. But time should tell.

Good grief, lol.

Seriously. If this were all essentially a done deal, it should be much more widely reported than just a bit by Ben and Skin. I really can't confirm this, and just was asking for whatever sourcing anybody might have that they can share.

Not any attack whatsoever on Skin, who does know a lot about basketball, and is also an entertainer with a somewhat over-the-top shtick. Good man, just not really part of his job assignment to break front office news, so he doesn't cultivate that kind of connection, that's all.
So much for we’ll let the GM decide.

Woj wide enough for you?

A quote from a news-breaker! Now we're talking!

2) Because his strategy to make the guys play defense was to give out a WWE DPotG belt...as a defensive assistant...

Ugh, this place gets posts so quick I can't keep up. I thought my original post (2) had your quote in it (1). After I posted it without looking it through, I went back to post your quote, by the time I posted the new reply, there were 2 large posts hiding the post I was trying to get right.

Here is what I wanted to say in it's entirety.
(06-24-2021, 05:46 PM)mavsluvr Wrote: [ -> ]Skin knows the players and coaches a little, at least from the standpoint of a media guy, but I have never perceived that he had any connections in the front office beyond just people knowing each other well enough to say hello. And I don't know if he knows anybody well enough for them to confide in him regarding inside stuff.

He comments on the news, often demonstratively, but I can't remember him breaking any. (I don't represent that I can remember everything, of course.)

Do we have other sources for this item? I listened to the Tim Cato pod, and he mostly expressed concern that the team was even considering Kidd. Seemed a little stunned that Carlisle would recommend Kidd on his way out, and took it as a dig. (Not saying the Kidd item isn't so, just trying to figure out where it's sourced).

I've never seen him break news. I've also never seen him try to break news. That's not really what their show did.

I have heard him drop hints on his radio show that ended up happening. He never said "this will happen". He would do a Killer like, "I don't know....be prepared" thing, and then a month or year later it would happen. He called the DAJ signing before anyone (the signing that actually went through). During Luka's rookie season Ben asked what the Mavs might try to do to reshape the roster. Skin said that the Mavs might try to make a trade for Porzingis. One time Ben asked what kind of big man the Mavs would be interested in and Skin told him about WCS. There were other items that I don't remember now.

I didn't listen to their show all the time, but I would try to catch their Mavs segements, and I thought they were pretty good. I thought he sounded like someone who knew a few things from being in the buildling but that tried to phrase those items in a low key way.
Finley and Kidd. And Cuban probably gets to keep a lot of coaches on the payroll...easy "transition"

So it seems like Cubes already found his GM.

And that GM really likes Kidd.

Also I cannot wait for twitter to start clowning the Mavs.

Mostly because the twitter echochamber has a combined IQ of 1. (not saying Kidd is a home run move. It has its warts. But its certainly not going to be as bad as the overreactions we're already seeing on twitter).

Bingo. The new GM just hasn't been announced but is already putting his fingerprints on everything happening.

In the past, Skin alway spoke highly of Rick

I do think half of the GM role is still just Cuban. This screams to me a Cuban move. Not saying it's inherently terrible but it's certainly a familiar move.

The last time Skin stated something like this so definitively (but seemingly out of the blue) was when he said on-air after the 2018 draft that he predicted Deandre Jordan would end up in Dallas. He clearly knew something ahead of time.

And in this case, he appears to also be right.
You think the GM is putting fingerprints on everything happening?

Or Cuban hired a GM that’s cool with Finley and Kidd in positions of power and Cuban making the final decisions?

Please tell me you’re not this naive.

You didn't read all the quotes. One of the tweets above said that the GM, who has no name at this point, and Mark have been talking about Kidd

Too late.  Kings fans feel bad for us.
