Classic Mavs.  A huge win followed by a giant mistake.
Enough US Open talk.. give me WOJ already!

Come on man, at the end of the day every owner is an idiot and all front offices have power struggles.  We're just going through one way more publicly than we'd like.

I'm like you in the sense that I think the most important person in this franchise after Luka was (ouch) Rick but as soon as Luka puts ink to paper then the reality of this team being on the brink of being a contender for a long while is still, well...reality.

The chaos and the dysfunction is gross but it's a chance to clean slate.  We all complain that Cuban messed up the business side with all the allegations a year or so ago but don't things look better under Cynthia?  At the end of the day, no one from the front office ever steps foot on the court and no one in the media is suggesting Luka is going to take the QO so I'm going to choose to cross my fingers and see what happens.  My pitchforks are nearby in case the next weeks continue to the get worse though.

They'll do dodge ball coverage before talking Mavs...

The Dallas GM and coach openings are very attractive in some respects.

However, if Cuban wants to get some elite replacements, he is going to have to extricate himself from so much nitty-gritty involvement. Doesn't have to take himself out of the picture altogether, but will have to give them freedom to do their jobs without a lot of interference.

Carlisle should have no trouble landing another gig, if he wants to keep coaching.
Didn't give us anything new.. just asking the same question we all have, will Cuban get out of his own way long enough to get elite GM to come here..
Why do we call them owners? I’m gonna call Cubes a franchisee from now on. That’s all he actually is.

They seem to think that way, honestly.

I've heard like three owners just this season using the term "transfer" in place of "trade."

I think it's very good for Cuban to catch this heat from the national media. Maybe he'll freaking wake up.
WOJ:Cuban can be a great selling point in FA...

Cheer up pal! We got to be along for the ride for one of the best basketball stories ever! That's quite rare for a sports fan.

And we've made some good friends along the way.

Plus, these guys we watch and talk about...we're watching them chase their own hopes and dreams. We can have fun watching but we gotta have our own hopes and dreams we're chasing!

Lastly, the Mavs have Luka. Surely he alone will attract some good GM and coach possibilities.

It'll be alright.

I'll keep watching and rooting for the Mavs as long as Luka is in a Mavs uniform, and enjoy it.

My biggest hope is that Cuban reads media reports and understands that if he wants his favorite team to be successful, the real GM needs to be someone not named Mark. Or Bob.

How do we think Mark responds when he hears every national pundit say, "Cuban needs to take a step back and be less involved in the day-to-day operations of his team."

A.  "You know, they are right.  We haven't gone in the right direction since we won the title.  We were fortunate enough to get a generational talent.  It is time to let someone else steer the ship.
B.  "That's a slight, I'll take this as a challenge.  We won my way in 2011 and I'll do it again.  Bob, show me how to use pivot tables again."

I know which answer I'd lay money on.

I think there's an outside chance at:

C. "Handing off the day-to-day operations to someone I trust may not be the worst thing in the world because it will allow me to focus on my other businesses and crypto trades. I just have to find the right guy."

When you chose to keep an inefficient chucker in Burke instead of the person Luka listens too as your end of bench player you need drastic changes in decision making...

Did it not come down to Iwundu v Barea? Burke has quite a bit more guaranteed money on his deal.
