THJ+Wright+18+31 for Buddy+12+43?

Who says no?

I'm never getting off the Buddy train.

SH, not sure if you heard, but the Kings did fire Vlade.

What are you looking at? I looked at it again and it has the Wolves drafting Poku and the Mavs drafting Maxey.

Yeah, I looked quickly and you are right.  I guess he could still fall to Dallas but seems most responses here are lukawarm.
Just want to throw Robert Woodard II out there again.

6'7", 7'1" wingspan, 42% on threes, and one of the best in D1 allowing only 0.75 PPP and 32.3% shooting when on defense.

And he is projected to fall to second round. Vecenie at The Athletic has Mavs taking him with #31

Yeah hoping that holds. He is a great option at #31 IMO.
(09-30-2020, 12:53 PM)cow Wrote: [ -> ]For fun, here is a list of those drafting ahead of us in a range that we may be able to trade up into (Position, Team, Owned Picks):

#8 Knicks - 8, 27, 38
#9 Wizards - 9, 37
#10 Suns - 10
#11 Spurs - 11, 41
#12 Kings - 12, 35, 43, 52
#13 Pelicans - 13, 39, 42, 60
#14 Celtics - 14, 26, 30, 47
#15 Magic - 15, 45
#16 Blazers - 16, 46
#17 Wolves - 1, 17, 33

Celtics seems like a prime candidate to bundle picks and move up.

And Suns seem like the team primed for trading down.
Seems like RJ really likes the Mavs. Does anyone like him? I don't think they want a guard or wing who can't shoot, but damn, you gotta love the hometown story.

Who do you see that fills this description in the draft?

To me there are 3 skills for the position...D, Shooting and ball handling.  If you have two of the three you aren’t a consideration at 18.  You’re doing your radio interviews by then.

What I was trying to point out is Dallas can probably handle a lesser ball handler...more so than many of the teams looking for a lead guard.  You pretty well have to settle for 3 or D and hope the guy you draft can grow the other one.  Halliburton will be long gone, but I really like him on this team.  I’ve met Jones (nice kid) and think he would be a good defender who could develop his outside shot more.  Unfortunately he’s a low ceiling guy and we have one of those already.  Terry is obviously a “3” guy, but my legs weigh more than him.  Hard to see him fighting through screens.

If may be that Lewis, Anthony, Maxey or Hampton fit what I’m talking about and have more upside than someone like Jones.  All those guys seem to be congregating close to 18 and all have high ceilings and pretty major flaws.  Anthony was a top 5 kid coming out of HS.  I’d probably take a flyer on that.  It isn’t like we need him to contribute much right away.

He is 100% a "potential" guy. His straight line speed with the ball is ELITE and he has the talent and skill to GET any shot he wants and to get to the rim at will.......................

..............BUT he cannot finish at the rim or hit outside shots at this point. IF he learns to finish and shoot, he will be one of the top 5 guys in this draft easy. IF he doesn't, he will likely bust unless he gets more lower body strength and learns how to defend better.

Super "boom or bust" kind of pick, IMO.

True. But isn't Dumars their commander in chief right now? At least in the interim? He's the genius who signed Josh Smith to a max contract to go with Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond...
Count me on the N'Doye bandwagon with @"dirkfansince1998".

So what Russel Westbrook has morphed into?

Worst case he is an NBA ready defender but limited on offense. Basically what Frank N. is today.
Best case he is a 6´7 playmaker that can play at any position form PG-SF.

Yeah, really surprised he isn't projected as a late first rounder by some.

Though I AM offended on Frank's behalf. N'Doye can hope that one day he is the defender that Frank is.

Age. He is  22 years old and despite a solid position on the big boards in the last two years he never declared for the draft.

Oh crap, Frank is actually younger I just realized.

I am open to Patrick Williams, though I do not like him as much as some of the other wing prospects.

One more guy I am super high on for the #31 slot is Paul Reed:

I feel the Mavs should be able to get BIG value from this draft!
