Pray to God Hendricks is there at 10.

Yeah, the way I’ve been putting it is at #10, you get the worst of those bigger body better defense guys.

Or, you go for Dick or Wallace or start to take a flyer on someone projected to go further down the line.  I’m not advocating Dick by any means.  But, our best three point shooters last season were the kids.  Dick would join Green and Hardy as a very young core .400-plus guys from deep.

So mean.  But seriously, there is a player named Dumba in the NHL. (iirc)
This draft is set from 1-3, after that it's wide open. Depending on needs from the teams picking before us, almost anything can happen. Don't remember mocks beeing as different from 4-15 as they are this year.

Interesting.
I have a feeling Presti will get pretty aggressive here and offer two future 1st round picks/young players to move up from 12th into the 5-10 range. Not sure whether he´ll be right, but just a hunch that he thinks in that range is a very special player worth cashing in some of their pile of assets.
If Hendricks is gone I might take a gamble on GG Jackson.

You can't be serious?
Spurs get another generational talent after having Duncan. They are just a well run organization that seems to make the right moves. Nothing else to say.
I think there's a pretty decent chance Hendricks will be there at 10 after the combine measurements. He's only barely longer than Collins. Exact same height. His standard outcome after development is probably John Collins before he jacked his finger up. Trade back looking pretty good to me if it brings in a quality front court player plus a solid prospect like Leonard Miller or Lively.
Givony has #9 Dick and #10 Hendricks. Really seems those two are attached at the hip at the moment. I don´t see 4 through 8 as clear-cut, but I do not like Black or Wallace that much, so the outcome would be much appreciated...(until we trade the pick). At least with Dick/Hendricks trades, I´d get material for clowning Cuban again, until I get traded to a new team with Luka.
Great. Things would have gotten depressing if we lost our picks.

Dallas and OKC keeps their picks…who would you put your bet with on who picks the better player? OKC at 12 or Dallas at 10?

Houston is under the gun. Several good players but so young and bad habits they have no idea how to win. OKC has Houston’s pick next year (they are amazing) so Houston needs to show progress. Is Maxing out Harden really the way to go? If not him though, who do they target to be the face of the franchise and help the younger players learn how to win?

Houston has the perfect coach for a young team in Udoka. He's going to hold them accountable for bad decisions and make them play defense. I think he gets them straightened out.

They also tanked to get Duncan.  They trade away folks earlier than later if they are convinced they won’t enter a bidding war to keep them. Meanwhile the Mavs FO over the years seems to have no clue on real value of players. The Spurs keep the big picture in mind.

Ethics wise highly questionable but they are playing by the rules no matter how bad the rules are.
Things can change, but I see the obviously good fits (Witmore, Hendricks, Walker) being off the board at 10.

Cason Wallace is the one I’m looking at. Several teams in the top 9 could use a point guard also him and scoot are the only decent ones in the 1st rd. If someone one is high on him in front of us, it would drop down one of the better players
Keep the pick. Take Coulibaly. Athletic, efficient, huge wingspan. And he’s developed in Europe, which let’s face it, blows the US developmental process away. Most of the guys mentioned here won’t be available anyway and the Mavs should definitely not select any player with under a 7’ wingspan. That would be non negotiable for me.
The updated mock at The Athletic has Dallas taking Lively with the next three picks being Dick, Leonard Miller and Cason Wallace.

10. Dallas Mavericks
Dereck Lively II | 7-1 center| 19 years old| Duke

The Scout: Lively struggled to start the season, but by the end of it, there was not a more impactful defender in college basketball. He’s an elite rim protector who averaged 2.5 blocks per game this past season in 20 minutes. He defends ball screens well and can do so in a variety of different schemes. He can hard hedge and recover, he can drop, and he can play at the level. He’s mobile and runs the court very well. Offensively, he’s extremely limited right now, but Lively has immense tools with a 7-7 wingspan that portends potential to not just be a good defender but a great one.

The Fit: The Mavericks essentially have no long-term answer at the center position right now, and they desperately need rim protection and rebounding to pair with Luka Dončić and potentially Kyrie Irving. Lively would be a tremendous partner for both of them in ball screens on offense, and defensively, he can cover for them if they lose track of their players. This is probably on the early end of Lively’s range, but the fit is too good.
The Range: No. 10 to No. 20

This mock is the dream scenario.

Haven't seen Walker make it to 10 in too many drafts.  Agree it would be ideal.

This is the second mock I've seen that has Leonard Miller rising all the way up to #12 at OKC (Chicago's words about OKC drafting the better player at 12 than the Mav's at 10 kind of haunt me).  If Walker isn't there and you want a big wing, Miller is probably ahead of GG Jackson for me.  Both have huge upside, but also some gaping holes.

BTW, Both Walker and Miller are signed with Duffy's agency.
