Good first game from Chet, still think he's gonna have a tough time in the league.

I always find the overreaction of the rookies playing summer league hilarious.   Chet looks great last night and all of a sudden the Magic made a mistake passing on a transcendent player.   Murray from Sacramento plays well his first game and all the Kings say "I told you so".   Then he has a down second game and it is "LOL KANGZ".

I admit I get caught up in it as well, but I think I have become a little more stubborn about changing my opinions just off a few good/bad summer league games.

I do think Chet is going to be very good, but I could be wrong.

I'm ok with the things he did mention - playmaking would be a nice bonus early.  His shot selection/consistency were major reasons why he fell in the draft.  But yeah...  I would have liked him to emphasize the defensive improvement.  Can't defend, can't play.

I mean Green or Frank + Kleber can certainly carry an entire bench unit, if the rest aren't completely utter fails. The DefRtg from the bench were legit insane, if you look at Frank/Kleber or Green/Kleber together.

But for starting, defense is required. If THJ would been a good defender, starting at the 2 would basically be solved i guess. Assuming he finds his shot back.

A certain lvl of defense is imo required to start with Luka, if Kidd wants to have a defense first unit. Hence i am sceptical about Tobias Harris, added towards Wood. Plus Luka. Uh oh question mark on defense.

Where do the Grizzlies find these guys?   Lofton Jr looks like a young Charles Barkley. They have another kid Jake Laravia from Wake Forest who looks like a player. And David Roddy from Colorado State who's a 6'5 252lb bruiser who shot 44% from 3 in college.  Memphis is really building a elite NBA program.
