Great movement three point catch and shoot from JH!
The good news on JH is that the last two games he has shot 40% from three (4-10) and that includes having two of them blocked.

If he gets any burn this year his main role will be catch and shoot threes and I think he is ready for that.
Summer league basketball is the worst, especially this Mavs squad. I’ve never really watched it before and didn’t realize just how low quality the basketball is. JH can’t dribble at an NBA level yet, and the release point on his three point shot is too low, but otherwise, I can’t tell if he’s diminished by the overall sucktitude around him or a contributor to it. These guys play like a rec team, and it seems that maybe the Ignite used a similarly unstructured style with everyone just trying to get theirs.  JH would have benefited from playing a year in college or Europe were he’d have to play within an actual system. He hasn’t had that experience at least since high school, and who even knows if then. I hope it doesn’t ruin him before he gets started.
Just like last year. The talent gap between the Mavs summer league roster and the majority of other teams is not a good look for the scouting and player development department. Probably have to wait for the preseason to evaluate individual players. If one of them even gets a two-way spot.
AJ Lawson looks like the only one who has an inkling of what to do.

Plus, DAL running three different coaches through the SL doesn't do much for continuity.
Looked like an awful game.  I watched a few minutes and then went to bed.   It was really late and the team is really boring.

I continue to be frustrated how little we seem to care.  It is good to have Hardy play through mistakes, but I have no idea why we are not more aggressive bringing higher caliber players to summer league.   I would always be aggressive and try to bring at least one (maybe two) of the undrafted guys with an understanding we are having open competition.  For instance, New Orleans brought Seaborn (NC State) and Butler (Florida State) to their summer league.  New orleans is already filled with young guys and future picks.  Both guys are long shots, but they are interesting.

I would also target a veteran point guard to help organize things for the summer games.   A guy who knows his time in the NBA may be over but is auditioning overseas/or developmental coach position.   With the understanding, his role is to help our young kids get into advantageous situations.   When you lack a point guard, the games tend to go off the rails really quick.
All I'm seeing here is that 1) Lawson may or may not be worth a two-way, and 2) we gave up 2 future 2nds - trade assets we won't have down the road - for a guy who has a lot of work to do in order to sniff the court.

It's hard to tell they are being coached at all to be honest.  Everyone just stands around on offense while the ball handler creates for himself.

Oh, so they’re playing 5 out, my turn your turn basketball! It got us to the WCF, why is it so boring to watch?

I think they started the game 2-18 or worse.  Watching that game last night gave me PTSD.

The mavs were clearly working on offensive rebounding.  They would have shot better if they really wanted to make their shotsSmile

Josh Green not being here makes no sense. Unless they want to trade him and feel he might get exposed.

We have no big men who play with strength. So the other team is just playing straight up defense and the guards are not able to create anything. Why is Cuban and Kidd there to just watch this mess.

There to talk trades.

Or he is already slotted to be included in a trade and can't risk an injury.

Kings look like they hit the jackpot with Murray.   I knew he was good, but he's been much better than I expected.
Hardy 0-3 to start the game. Needs to stop chucking away from 3 and attack the rim. That´s what he did in the first (best) game.
Front court once again with a terrible start. Doesn´t matter who is on the floor. Cannot defend without fouling. Cannot finish layups.
For those reading the summer league tea leaves in terms of attendance, THJ is now there.
