That's just it - "raw" is media speak for "young." I think there are weakness to Hardy's game that you could consider raw, but his strengths, to me, are considerably more polished and nuanced than most kids his age.

I think they picked him specifically because his offensive game is NOT "raw."
Hardy is way bigger.  6´4 and he already has a big frame. DSJ pre draft measurements. 6´1 with a 6´3 TRex wingspan.
Overall it just looks like Hardy is already more in control. DSJ never found his rhythm. Felt like he couldn´t handle his own athleticism.
He just pulled off a multi-dribble iso move that ended with a cool, calm collected 20 ft pull up in space that he created with ease. It's the type of play that Joe Johnson and Michael Finley made entire careers out of.

THEN, he drained a corner 3 catch and shoot without even the benefit of an on-target pass.

They are featuring him down the stretch of a close game, and he's winning. I know it's only summer league, but them's the facts.
Can't watch the game (but have been keeping up in the thread Smile )

What's a realistic expectation based on the (small) sample size seen so far?  Does he have a chance at cracking the rotation or is he still more of a next season or beyond kind of player?
This kid went to the rim in a controlled fashion for three quarters then comes into a tight game with 6 minutes left and shows off the jumper that got him drafted.

Trying to not get too excited but he is not what I expected at all.

Impossible to tell based on one summer league game and without knowing the full extent of the final roster.

I'm ready to say he's more ready to play than Green was when he got here, however.

With a full year in the GLeague him getting into the rotation this year is not out of the realm of possibility at all.
My honest prediction is that he'll get 10 minutes here and there, do pretty well, but be played behind some others who drive the board crazy.

He'll be this year's "the coach is so dumb for not playing this guy" guy.

Put his jersey in the rafters.

Those 3 plays sealed it for me. That is the kind of thing that will keep him in the league.
I am glad JH is getting to go against Dalen Terry, he is the kind of athletic and long defender he will have to learn how to beat.

Whooping his ass, really.

Where will he rank compared to Frank and Josh if both are still on the roster?

Get ready for the Hardaway vs Hardy discussions the first slump Timmy goes through this year.
Can we go ahead and sign AJ Lawson to the second two-way spot?
He just dribbled right into a huge turnover. Gave up the lead. Then, took a terrible pull-up three that he missed.

Overtime. To be fair, they took the ball out of his hands during a couple of possessions, and neither went well.

He's short a floater, I think. A floater would've just ended the game with a Mavs win. He annihilated his defender on that turnover play, just dribbled right into the big for no reason afterwards.
Choke job...fire Greg St. Jean from summer league!
