yes, the GM is the more important hire, but I have trouble seeing how he will have much power to build the team in his vision.   It has been reported Finley ran our drafts???  He is new in this role and I am sure he is going to want say in the direction with his new elevated power.  Same with Cuban who has the ultimate voice.  It seems like this GM will be the 3rd voice....and who knows where the coach and analytic team fit in.  I wanted one voice (with Cuban ever present having the final voice) to build this roster.  It appears we are still stuck on a bunch of guys and no one to blame when they make mistakes.   I hope I am wrong.

Billy King hired Jason Kidd before and he´s available. Just saying.

All this secrecy over who's the new guy and the fact that this new guy already signed off on Jason Kidd has me really puzzled.

You'd think a guy like Woj would already know who's incoming. Why the delay? The secrecy?

Contract negotiations, at that level, aren't always just about agreeing to a dollar amount. 

Not saying I know this is the reason, but it could be, especially if a current contract with another team is involved. There are probably steps to go through with the league and lawyers in cases like that.

The new GM Arkmay Ubancay has a skin condition and won't be able to do public interviews. However, rest assured that he is very experienced and has been given full decision making authority by the owner. He will not rest until the Mavs are back on top!

Yup. I would assume that GM is still under contract with another team. He´s already making decisions (involved), but can´t be announced yet.

And any Mavs fan who has lived through the DAJ signing and the failed Miami trade should understand why waiting to announce isn't the worst thing in the world.

Thats a very good point that hadn't crossed my mind.

Narrows it down to someone who works for 1 of the 29 other teams that currently might be under contract or is expiring from a contract.

Now time to get looking in the NBA directories!
