If the Mavs win the title this year I might go into a coma from the sheer joy.

Luka would almost certainly be put in the most rairfied of air, doing something that I think only Magic Johnson has done.

Would love to know other superstars that came in and won a title in their 2nd year playing first fiddle.
to those who likes to forget the last 2 games ever happened  Smile

Looks like DAL should make sure the offense is working regardless of what the opponent is doing. Big advantage to DAL (90.5% win) if their number is over 50, but still winning 67% even if opponent is above 50.

I'm guessing the <50 opponents are also the slow it down, make it ugly teams like BOS that take all rhythm out of the game.

This is really worth discussing, and I don’t think these struggles can just be blamed on the recent injuries, though we are having more clutch time with our loss of firepower.

It does make me wonder about trying to adjust Lukas minutes to keep him as fresh as possible for the final stretch of the game. We need him with the energy to do what he does at the beginning rather than being gassed and having to rely more on the stepback, which I do think is a useful tool but should be mainly to keep the defense honest rather than becoming a primary move.

I also think the recent uptick in allowed physicality is causing issues that Luka and the rest of the team is having a hard time adjusting to.

Six of the Mavericks’ 13 losses have come in games in which they led by double-digit margins.

Dallas' historically efficient offense has sputtered in clutch situations, a factor in two losses during their 1-3 slide. The Mavs' best-ever offensive rating of 115.3 points per 100 possessions plummets to a No. 28-ranked 92.3 in the clutch, per NBA.com/stats. Luka Doncic in those situations: 36.4% from the floor, 21.7% on 3s and as many turnovers (10) as assists. "He's been playing too many long stretches of minutes, and it's been really compromising him late in games," said coach Rick Carlisle, who tweaked the rotation to rest Doncic earlier in the first and third quarters. -- MacMahon
Our clutch issues are on Luka. Last year he excelled in clutch situations and this year he settles for step back 3's almost exclusively in late game situations. He is turning the ball over too much and making poor decisions in clutch situations. I'm a huge Luka fan so I'm not here to bash him, but he has to be held accountable for the issues since he gets all the praise when we are winning games.

I'm not concerned long term. I won't be mad if it takes him a while to figure it out. He just needs to play smarter late in games and we'll be fine. It's as simple as this team goes as Luka goes. Once he gets back to being clutch, we'll go back to to winning at a high clip.

I would like to add that I only believe it's a mental change that Luka needs late in games. He obviously has all the talent in the world. He just needs to value every possession and he'll be ok.
