cool, but I hate that music
Got to love the expression on Luka's face when KP finishes the play. Dude just gets so happy for his teammates success.
Sounds like he had a repair, not a removal. Longer rehab, but better outlook for the future. That's good news. However, I'm 99% sure it has been reported by others that the meniscus injury was in the OTHER knee.

The thing about KP... even if he were healthy, yes, he's a monster, but the Mavs are so asset-parched around him and Luka... It seems like the answer to every potential good player we would get to feature next to them in the starting lineup is "we don't have the assets" - because we already mortgaged the assets to acquire Luka and KP, and because we nowhere near filled our talent cupboard as we needed to last year.

If we go some route other than Plan '21 Capspace (you're welcome, KL), then I have a hard time seeing how the Mavs are going to be able to even build a supporting cast around Luka without trading KP for multiple starters. And that's if he's healthy. If he isn't, they'd be screwed.

One more reason why it's '21 Capspace - whether or not it nets GA - or bust.
That's actually good news. It's the final indication that he had a meniscus REPAIR, and not a partial REMOVAL. This is much better long-term.
Translation: KP will miss a **** ton of games and we are screwed.

Does this mean he starts playing regular season games on January 1st or he starts with on court practice?

Usually it means able to practice...

He is a great trade asset now, for instance to trade for Giannis, or another more healthy player, with more impact than KP. Once he has a serious injury, his value might diminish.

Cleared Jan 1 for on court activities - does that mean something like Game's around Feb 1?  Good thing WCS is said to be opting-in.

Not according to the latest reports...

EXACTLY THIS!

Really glad to see that KP is going to be out. Odd to say but Im sure the Mavs were targeting a mid January season start date. They lost a month with the NBA moving up to a Christmas return. I think KP is going to be back by mid January, and miss overall 15-20 games.
Shouldn't be too bad since Luka can lead a team of bench players and be competitive most nights...

Totally, 100% this, but honestly, is this anything we didn't know about him before the trade, even?

The good news is that he absolutely rehabbed from the first, serious injury to the point where he was putting up 30 point double doubles in playoff games. So that hurdle is behind us.

He might always be injury prone, he might not. I'm not going to worry about it until he gets another really serious one.

Anthony Davis is injury prone, but he just gets nagging ones. Hasn't had any major injuries like knees. Hopefully he'll be ok.
