We can't trade 2025 unless we gave something to the knicks to lift the protections.

That's because he has already burned two of his "cheap" years with not a lot to show for it, a pick is more versatile as the team has more control of who it ends up being, and a pick is easier to use in other trades. My guess would be that most teams would prefer to have our late 22 vs Green, but I could be wrong.Ya, I thought about saying it as low first rounder. My thought is he's a guy that showed marked improvement with increased load from season 1 to 2 (more games, 4 more mpg and almost doubled most of his numerical stats...including TOs and Fouls...unfortunately). That shows something to me, but like you, not sure it says anything to an NBA FO. I figured someone else would be able to see that too and value it a bit higher than others and all it takes is 1 that has something we want.

Think of where this team was in 2012 vs 2017 vs today....trading 2024 and 2026 picks in the middle of Luka's giant contract (and Dorians and hopefully Brunsons) is an all in move that doesn't create a worst case scenario, just got to wait one season.

Besides, with each passing year Mavs will be more desperate and every seller will know that - prices will go up.

Maybe the Mavs can emulate their team-building plan.

They failed to make the Play In this year and don't get a lottery pick to show for it. They are in complete tear down and rebuild mode. If this ever happens, Luka is gone. Or is this sarcasm!
