Well Aussie did rest Ingles, Mills, Delly and Baynes.
They play Nigeria first game in the Olympics so didn’t want to show everything.

Green is likely to get 10mins a game when everyone is playing.

Team USA saved from the Joshocalypse.
Various rumours of who they are getting to replace Beal.
Some say Trae, Tobias Harris, Duncan Robinson or Christian Wood.

Grant is now in COVID protocols as well.
Wow, Love really is totally washed...

Told you.

The embarrassing losses to Nigeria and Australia probably scared them straight.

He just can't beat the injury bug.  I do wonder if Cleveland lands Mobley if they will finally admit defeat with Love and buy him out.   It certainly feels like it will be a problem to bring him back next year.    They have been holding out for an asset.  That is going to be difficult to get imo.

And I would be intrigued if he was bought out.

That is why I think KP for Love and Sexton could make sense for them. Or is it better to just buy Love out and trade Sexton separately?

Is this happening to other countries, too?

If not, is it because USA rules are more strict than other countries', somehow, or are there unified Olympic rules related to Covid? If there are, is this happening more to US athletes because we're dumber about basic, preventative measures, such as mask wearing and vaccination?

Super confusing.

I am not really following Olympics closely, but I have seen reports about Covid cases, I think mostly to supporting staff. Slovenia basketball team has zero cases. I am sure rules are same for everyone, set by Japanese.
Lavine with his athletic scoring and especially shooting ability against tight coverage is a major blow to this USA team. I also wonder whether the other medal contenders are pissed that Nigeria/Australia beat up the USA so bad in meaningless friendlies, that the USA got a warning shot andfelt the need to make some major roster changes. Confused
There have been athletes from other sports test positive and pull out.
A few tennis players.
Haven’t heard of any issue with bball teams.
Heard this morning on a non-sports news channel that there is at least discussion about whether to continue with the Tokyo games or just cancel and send everyone home.

Don't have attribution and haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

Makes some sense.
Consensus is that this will be a multi-billion dollar economic hit, especially since non-participants are now banned from the venues.
Japan is behind the curve on vaccinations.
As of this morning there have been ~79 cases related to the Olympics with over half appearing in the local Japanese population.
Olympic village accommodations are shared rooms (with cardboard bedframes...wtf?) with no plans to police isolation and interaction (which would kind of defeat the whole idea of the games, imo).
Almost 80% of Japanese population thinks the games should be cancelled.
Sponsors have started pulling out of events like opening ceremonies due to the ban on attendance.
Toyota, a major sponsor, is not even going to run Olympic-themed ads due to Covid status.

It would be disappointing and I was prepared to lose some sleep to see Luka play, but I'd hate to think he gets ill from some rando around the games. Stay tuned, I guess.

He's vaccinated, so then what's the point of the vaccination if it doesn't stop you from getting COVID? I had COVID and got vaccinated after, just wondering if I need to stay away from people still.
