I think this game is another proof of how little impact traditional centers can make in a serious game. Valanciunas and Sabonis are endlessly better on paper over anything Slovenia has under the rim, but they were not able to capitalize on the offensive end. On defense, Luka was just killing them as we saw against Zubac. Either a drive to the hoop or pass to a wiiiiiiide open teammate. No wonder they were shooting almost 50 % from three up to this game.

It depends. On paper FIBA rules should favor skilled bigs with questionable perimeter defense. I mentioned the Varejao vs Giannis example from 2019. So far Boban looked really good as well and yesterday 7´1 Ondrej Balvin dominated Powell/Lyles.

All this with Prepelič (best shooter/scorer in our team) shooting 1-7 for 3.

Čančar with injured ankle was fantastic. He is improving really well in Denver.

Still thing we got some reserves for Tokyo and a lot of room for improvment for the future.

Boban vs Melli. Both struggling so far. Melli cannot make a shot. Boban is getting exposed on defense.

When is the olympics and will the best US players join? I think Luka and Slovenia, can make some noise there. Kawhi, PG could not guard him, and nobody else in the NBA, so Slovenia for sure will make it tough against anyone. They will put up the points offensively, but dont how how well they will do it defenively? Especially if they shoot well the open shots, they could beat anyone.
