Love what Mo Wagner does for Germany. Effort, intensity, shooting. 17 pts in 12 min (due to foul trouble).

He'd be good as a bench PF on the Mavs, Min to BAE contract.
i have not seen much of mo wagner,

but one german i would like is theis,  he brings so much enery, motor,D , to me he would be a very good backup.
i don't know if he would coexist with maxi as a 4/5 combo from the bench. maybe something to think about.

Does anyone has seen some other guys that are avaible maybe via Summerlegaue or so that are maybe worth a try?
I will start watching olympics tomorrow and can share my eyetests after

He has been very good. Also shockingly competent 3pt shooting throughout the qualifying and the Olympics now. Yes the 3pt line closer, but so is the proximity of the defense. There might come a point in time, where these performances under FIBA rules, will see him get a bigger monetary offer from overseas than the NBA. With the glimpses he has shown this summer, I´m sure Orlando will desperately try to keep him around for their rebuild, which only makes Mo Bamba even more available.

He's UFA so he'll follow the money. If someone offers more to him than BAE, then i'd say it does not make sense for DAL, but i'd like them to offer a contract up to that.
FWIW, Hachimura looks pretty good. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him if he ever became available. Looks like he has some good BBIQ. Seemed to handle the ball OK. Nice stepback move. Some range on his shot and seems pretty athletic. A bit of a black hole in their offense, though he did score 35. I think he has another year in DC before he gets to decide on his rookie extension.

Likewise, Wantanabe seems like he has some playability. Played 14.5 mpg and shot 44%/40%/83% with 3 reb in 50 games at TOR last season. He was on a 2-way contract last year, so he should be available. Maybe take a look at him for the Summer league?

Luka wasn't OMG stellar tonight, but played a good team game and trusted his mates. The "other" Dragic was key and took advantage of the attention paid to Luka.

Does anyone know how much of this Slovenia team was part of the Euro Championship a few years back?
FIBA...when Mills and Rubio are better than any guard on Team USA. Fun to watch. And it really shows how important the rules are.

Not just the rules, but the officiating of the rules.

Most of key guys. We had the Dragic in 2017 while the other Dragic missed due to injury. Of course Tobey replaced Randolph

7 players from this roster was also in Eurobasket 2017.

Goran retired from national team, Vidmar (not sure if he retired from national team or is just injured), Anthony Randolph (Tobey replaced him as a naturulized player), Rebec (Rupnik replaced him as a 3 point guard on the team) and Zagorac who retired from basketball.

Today, we have fairly young team, with only 2 players who are older than 30 years old.

Tobey (26), Dimec (27)
Čančar (24), Murič (29), Čebašek (30)
Dragič (32), Hrovat (26)
Prepelič (28), Blažič (31)
Luka (22), Nikolić (26), Rupnik (27)

There is also Žan Mark Šiško (24), first point guard of Bayern Munchen who is missing olympics beacuse of injury.

Also young players who are coming are also talented. Our U20 national team won EuroChallenge 1 week ago.

Gregor Glas (SG/SF 20) who was also MVP of tournament is (probably) NBA level of prospect. They were rumours that he could declare for 2021 draft, but for now he will stay in europe for at least 1 season.

Luka Ščuka (3/4 19) could also find his role in Nba.

Duščak (PG 19) and Radović (3/4 19) also played huge role, but both of them are more Euroleague type of prospects.

Žiga Samar didn't play, but as a prospect i could see him as a borderline Nba prospect.

And there are also a some younger prospects like, Mark Ivanković (PG/SG 18 Eurolegue prospect), Urban Klavžar from Real Madrid young team (PG 17) Nba prospect, Saša Ciani (18, 4-5) Nba prospect, Jan Vide another player from Real Madrid (PG 16) and Urban Kroflič (15) also from Real Madrid.

And there are also some players in NCAA like Luka Tekavcic (4-5) ORU, Aljaž Kunc (3-4) Iowa State, Maj Dušanič (4-5) USF, Maks Klanjšček (2-3) Maine, Vasja Pandza (4) Seattle...

The future is bright for our national team.

Thanks for all the great Info!

I like the way the team plays hard and everybody is involved on both ends. I watch for Luka, but the team overall is fun to watch.

It looks like a bright future for Slovenian basketball!

Who is the bigger star inside the country now, Pogacar or Luka?

I don't have data to back it up, but I think the other cyclist Roglic actually has a bigger fanbase than Pogacar. Otherwise it is a very difficult comparison. They are all widely recognized. Perhaps Roglic is bigger star as he is closer to average tv viewer and actually won something recently. It is difficult to understand for someone who is not watching basketball, how special Luka is.

This is difficult queston. Mainly beacuse we (Slovenians) are mostly connected to the succes, and a lot of times it doesn't depend on which sport athlete competes. And a lot of people suddenly becomes an ''experts about the sport and knows everything about it'' even if ''yesterday'' they didn't even hear about it.

So here in Slovenia the team sports which are (always) popular are football, basketball, handball... And then individual sports like skiing, ski jumping and cycling...

I wouldn't call them a stars, but in that way Luka is probably a little more popular than Pogačar. But that's just my opinion. Luka is a person who competes almost a whole year and in similar way there is also a speaking about him. On the other side, Pogačar, Roglič and others competes a lot less than Luka and talking about them is mainly focused only to the time where they're compete on the biggest tournaments (TDF, Olympics, Tour de Slovenia, Vuelta...).

Similar popularity (like Pogačar and Roglič) had/have also some athletes in ski sports, like Tina Maze, Peter Prevc and others.

On the team sports also depend a lot of national team succes. Jan Oblak is one of the best goalkeepers on the world, Iličić was also good in CL but for now we didn't have some big succes in footballl and similar to this results is also speaking about them in media. Here we could also put Anže Kopitar from LA Kings (NHL).

But when succes is there, some athletes suddenly become a very popular. Like in volleyball when we were 2 in european championship, or in handball when we are fighting for semifinals.

But, for now, i would put Luka a little bit higher then all others.

Sounds like D/FW fans for any other team other than the Cowboys!
3-0. Knockout round next.
Spain so focused on Luka.  Kinda mad at Spain for not giving me Luka magic (scoring) but a good strategy, until it wasn't.  Congrats to Slovenia.  I hope Spain gets USA now, right off the bat.
Two impressions from these Olympics:

1) The world has an incredible number of good basketball players compared to the past. Eventually, like within the lifetime of most on this board, maybe even by the 2028 games, the NBA will lose its recognition as the world’s only tier one league. This is, in fact, inevitable.
2) The international game/rules produces a more visually pleasing, team oriented style of play. The NBA should look for opportunities to align, including shortening the game to 40 minutes and eliminating the defensive three second rule.  FIBA should compromise too by moving back its three point shot to NBA range. I’m not sure how to standardize the lane. My gut tells me the international lane is more conducive to passing and should be the choice though.
No medal for Slovenia. They have been drawn against the German juggernaut. Sad

Bracket.

Italy vs. France
Germany vs. Slovenia

Spain vs. USA
Australia vs. Argentina

France, Slovenia and Australia should win. I think Spain vs. USA is actually the toughest game to call. I bet Twitter hopes for a Spain win. Ever since the Trump ban KD vs. 12 year olds is their new favourite traffic generator.
One win in the Quarter-finals against a second or third place finisher in group play and they are in the Semi's.

Final Phase

A draw will take place following the conclusion of the Group Phase to determine the pairings of the Quarter-Finals.  The winners of the the groups (3 teams) and the second-placed team with the best result (1 team) from the Group Phase are placed in one pot (D), while the 2 remaining second-placed teams and 2 best third-placed teams in another pot (E).  Teams from the same group in the Group Phase cannot be drawn against each other in the Quarter-Finals.

This stage of the competition is played in a knockout format and the draw will produce an Olympic bracket for the goad to the gold medal.

To be crowned Olympic champion, a team has to play 6 games -  3 in the Group Phase and 3 in the Final Phase (Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Gold Medal Game), instead of 8 as in past tournaments.
