Even call some post ups (we all know what RC thinks about the post game). Would actually say that last years offense looked more like the RC offense of the last ten years. Had more flow elements and more screen action for guys like THJ or Curry. This year it was a lot of Harden/Rockets-ball. Mismatch hunting and iso ball. Obviously also roster related. KP and Powell not the same. JRich instead of Curry.
The myth of RC the rigid coach that likes to make all the decisions is not really matching his offensive philosophy. Flow with multiple ballhanders that can all create of the dribble. He rarely calls plays (usually only out of timeouts, sometimes the initial action...horns, spain pick and roll).
According to Cato the RC/Luka situation was mostly about off court stuff (treatment of teammates, RCs "anger issues") and the influence of Bob.

Already mentioned it in the roster thread. The usual Mavs move. Good offense. Add defensive specialists that cannot play offense. Realize that they are hurting the offense. Adjust against and trade them for another one-way player like Redick.
Disagree on the Powell part. Would argue that his defense was better than his offense. Powell is one dimensional on offense (pick and roll only, rim runner) but one of the better defenders.

This. The Mavs need Two-way players. Ideally versatile wings that can play multiple positions.

Disagree but hope that you are right. It is easy to blame the outgoing coach/GM. RC didn´t turn KP into oldman Dirk on defense. I guess we can argue about the way KP was used on offense. I think RC did what was best for the team. Reduced KPs inefficient iso/post touches. Turned him into a catch and shoot/finish only player. KP obviously thinks of himself as a "star" player but if he cannot back it up on the court there is no reason to give him the special treatment.

The Mavs gave up bball knowledge/ X´s and O´s and went all out on recruiting. If they cannot land one of the bigger fishes this season things could get really ugly.

I was listening to the Ticket yesterday and they were talking Mavs...

The two hosts were saying that you would think the Mavs chances of landing a target would increase.   They put it in perspective by suggesting this...

If you are a targeted player by the Mavs...think about getting a phone call with Mark, Donnie, Rick and maybe Dirk on the phone vs Nico, Kidd and Luka.

I get that it probably doesnt work like that exactly...but it sure drives home the difference in old guard vs new.   Nico and Kidd are young and hip and seem to be really well liked amongst players...while old man Rick seems to possibly have a negative stigma attached to him amongst players.

Seems to make sense.  Hopefully this pays off for Cuban.
Things could get ugly in a hurry. This does not look like a strong team to me. KD and Dame are world class. The rest are second-class stars.

Still, the US team should be able to cobble together a win with that much talent.
Well Team USA lost again.  This time to Australia.   Josh Green got a few minutes of playing time but didn't show up on the stat sheet.  Patty Mills was excellent.  He is one of my favorites.  I think he is going to be a sneaky signing by a team this offseason.   Especially if he goes to a good team.   He will probably look for more than the MLE, but he is still really good.   He needs to fit a role, but he is excellent in that role.
Patty Mills y’all  Big Grin
If USA doesn’t get it together and win the Gold, Pop has got to be out as coach right? May not matter since he may be retired by the next time the 2023 World Cup rolls around.

Euros have to be calling these guys primadonnas. Also, they are. However, it is funny that one of the biggest complainers to the refs in the NBA is Luka.

Argentina is usually an actual contender, are they not? 0-3?
Zach Lavine came to the rescue. Cool

They are with Slovenia, Spain and Japan in Group C at the Olympics.  I think Luka has a real good shot at getting out of group play.  I hope somewhere along the way Luka vs USA happens.

Bad news for the USA...they will face the best international player and will get the same respect from the refs that Luka gets from the NBA refs...
Argentina have fallen off from their golden age, Scola is the last one standing and he is 41yrs old.
