2020-2021 ROSTER TALK: Archived

I am very hesitant on the prospect myself. He is 30 and his health seems like a ticking time bomb....it was ticking before and I believe its pace has picked up.

Some crimes last forever, ask Benedict Arnold

Its up to the individual to decide where that line is

It will probably be something that follows him the rest of his life, tbh.

Jason Kidd talking about how much he's looking forward to coaching KP and how he's the perfect fit with Luka.
Cuban defending KP again.

That's just the owner and the coach talking though.  The real boss is legionhoopsross who is really in charge and he says trading KP is the Mavs top priority.

In my opinion it was more of the same. On the one hand they have clearly identified the need for a better 2nd option. On the other hand they are trying to hide the true intentions when it comes to KPs future in Dallas.

"I think people were unfairly giving KP a hard time. KP is who he is. We didn´t think our need for a secondary scorer would be as great as it was honestly." That was Cuban just a few weeks ago. Todays comments were just as cryptic. Not trying to blame him for last years problems but also admitting that they need someone else to fill the role that KP was supposed to have.
At least Kidd sounded like he really wanted to work with KP.

I took Cuban's comments more about a secondary iso scorer/playmaker.  A guard wing that can create and run offense.

Not THJ. Not, not KP.

Plan A:
-Mavs trade Kristaps Porzingis to Clippers for signed Kawhi Leonard
-Mavs trade Josh Richardson to Warriors for signed Kelly Oubre
-Mavs re-sign Tim Hardaway Jr.
-Mavs sign Nerlens Noel to full MLE as an over-the-cap team

Tim Hardaway Jr.
Luka Doncic
Kawhi Leonard* / Dorian Finney-Smith
Kelly Oubre
Nerlens Noel

This is apparently how it is starting to come together.

Still believe plan B is Conley, Oubre, and retaining KP.

OK here’s my new off-season plan now that it looks like Sexton isn’t going to happen.

Dump Powell and Burke for cap space. Easier said than done I know but maybe there’s a way.

Trade Brunson for Mitchell Robinson. That should leave you with right at $50 million in cap space.

Sign Schroeder 4 for 72
Sign Markkanen 3 for 45
Resign Hardaway 4 for 60
rMLE Satoransky because I think the Bulls are going to let him go. His contract is only guaranteed for 5 million this year and they need to create the space to go after Lonzo.

Vet min Ntilikina & Mike Tobey

New Lineup:

Doncic/Satoransky/Terry
Schroeder/Green/Ntilikina
DFS/Hardaway
Markkanen/Maxi
Porzingis/Robinson/Tobey

Missed you pal. By the way, did you become an insider or develop a source? I haven't been reading everything so may have missed something. Or maybe I'm misreading your verbiage.

He has been saying that Bob Voulgaris plays poker with him and has been feeding him the Mavs plan....

...while notably changing his board title to "Spinner of Tall Tales".

Take away the insider schtick, though, and his latest suggestion is an interesting idea. Luka/THJ/Oubre/DFS/Noel could be a fun team in the short term with Kawhi pushing it over the top in a year. Love the size, athleticism, and switchability. And I like it in terms of a concept that keeps THJ and effectively operates over the cap while still swinging big.

Those titles have a habit to "change" themselves Smile

This gives me an interesting question. Let's say you are a Clippers GM and Kawhi comes to you "screw you all, I am going to Dallas". Do you prefer a KP SnT or do you say good luck?

I'm like 99% sure @"Kammrath" gave him that title.

Doesn't mean it's not accurate.

Fair enough! Thanks for pointing that out.
