Now I know where these Luka supermax extension reports are suddenly coming from. It was after Bill Simmons suggested on his podcast Luka should play out his rookie contract to see what the Moron Brain Trust comes up with before foolishly committing himself like Giannis.

They suggested he could sign a max deal with the Knicks and get a monsterous bonus from Nike for playing in New York City, so he can more than make up any losses. Breaking the last barrier of the player empowerment era, the guaranteed control of the rookie extension.

The swag of Luka rocking MSG must a wet dream for the Nike/NBA marketing department.

Maybe Cuban should be a bit concerned about it. Funny times ahead.

Luka is on record saying he wants to follow in Dirk's footsteps and stay here as long as the Mavs want him. While that opinion could certainly change, there's no way he throws in the towel this early.

Yeah, that's not happening. Simmons should be careful about suggesting that another team's players leave for the Knicks, as his boys in Boston might get ideas.

If you think Bill Simmons was being serious with that comment then boy I have a bridge to sell you.

Yeah not buying any property from you. You told me the value of House Porzingis could not possibly deteriorate any further. On the contrary it would dramatically increase after the deadline, once he gets healthy and kills it in the play-offs.

If property isn't your game, can I offer you some stocks then?

News Flash...Luka's going to get a massive apparel deal wherever he plays.

Besides, isn't there something limiting outside compensation for a contact decision? Otherwise, LALs would be offering every desirable FA their own mini-series.

Has there EVER been a player who is about to sign his first big contract say otherwise?

Players say nice things about wanting to stay in DETRIOT too

If he's about to sign the contract, then I rest my case. I was simply debunking the idea that he might consider signing with the Knicks rather than extending.

I have no reason to assume Luka is lying about wanting to stay a Mav for life. Especially since he spent his rookie season watching the team and entire city worship the ground Dirk walked on because he stayed loyal. But like I said, his feeling on this could change if the Mavs fail to put talent around him in the coming years.
