Is Sabonis available? Wiggins was fairly efficient this year. I don't want Wiggins over KP. I think Wiggins and Minny pick for KP is a pipe dream. But I'd be interested in that deal if not.

Would love Sabonis, but feel it is unlikely.
Regarding GSW, I think at best you would hope they will add 14th pick to Wiggins.
For another franchise,  that could be valuable but I don't think the Mavs was ever a reciever of 1st round pick under Cuban, except during draft night trades.

Sabonis is just as bad on defense. I am out on any max or near max big that cannot defend.

Can't play him as the single big, and can't replace Kleber with him in this series because then, who would guard KL? He might work great next to Kleber, but you definitely can't replace "max contract, 2nd star" Porzingis with him, right? (actually, I might try that when LAC goes small in game 4, which will be a lot).

I mean you can say that I just don't see a path to Lavine any more than there's a path to Beal or someone like that. You have to have something the Bulls want and I don't think there is.

Would be relevant if he was getting out coached. (He wasn't)

That's why I am in no way believing the book is written on him as a player. HE HAS TALENT! Realizing that talent and working on it are the concern for me.

I dont want to bash KP too much...but him not being able to correct something as simple as protecting the ball the moment it is passed to him is a red flag.

I see kids at my local rec center protect the ball better than he does.   Part of it is maybe bad team communication and know one screaming "wolf" when they see a defender scrape off another man and go try and steal the ball from KP's blindside.   But...it happens so much KP should have adjusted his mentality to expect this coming a long time ago and prevent it from happening as frequently.  My opinion, though.

He should always expect a small quick player attacking his blindside and protect accordingly.

You're right, I wasn't specific enough. He's a max contract player no longer capable of playing basketball at an NBA playoff rotation level.

Similar results though.

And you if disagree with that clarified statement, you and I are steppin' outside, because what I typed is true.  Dodgy Tongue

Well, with this crowd, all he has to do is roughly play up to his contract the last 2 years of it. I’ll just say, he’s saving his best play for then...

Leaving his contract aside, he’s been bad 2 out of the 3 playoff games this year. Last year he was good in the 1 he was healthy for. That is not what you pay a guy $30M for, sure, but it isn’t insignificant and making him what you are saying he is. His averages were decent enough this and last year to show he has some trade and on court value. If he can get out of the playoffs without injury, I think he’ll make a better showing next year for whatever team he plays on.

Heat season is over. I wonder if they are willing to make some bigger changes or take a risk on a player like KP. Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro tanked their value. Dragic is getting older but would still be a solid backup big for most teams. They don´t have any tradeable picks but young players like Achiuwa, Nunn or Okpala. Could also use one of the older vets with team options are larger capholds to match salaries (Iguodala, Ariza).

What I can't figure out is how Adebayo looked soooo much worse this year than last. I'm wondering if there's some sort of undisclosed injury with him, or something, because it was night and day.

I think maybe they would go for KP if the Lowry thing falls through which I don't think it will. They can get a big FA like Lowry for nothing so I don't think they would give up assets for KP.

I think the entire team overperformed in the bubble.  Adebayo is a really good player but he is not a great iso scorer, not the best pick and roll finisher, not a good shooter. A good defense can neutralize his passing/screening and force him to score from the high post or perimeter (Bucks have a great defense). Not sure about the defense. Might just be me but when he is going all out he is still one of the best. Giannis was stuffing the boxscore but finished the series with below average 50.1% TS. With Adebayo as the primary defender.

That's what I meant. The offense is a work in progress, and I think he's kind of a Draymond Green at that end. VERY useful when playing well on a high-functioning team, but not capable of MAKING his team good, offensively, in the first place.

But defensively, he just looked like a shell of the guy I saw last year. People blowing right past him, etc.

Only thing that changed is he got that $. Kinda reminds me of another 7 footer that suddenly forgot how to play defense after he got $. It’s been known to change people

I don't want to jump on the trade KP trade, but it certainly is not looking promising at the moment.

You know the Spurs were hot on KP before the mavs got him.    Anything there built around KP and Derozan trade?   Spurs need to find a star in the worst way.

I still want to see KP featured as a strong number 2.   I think blame lies everywhere, but probably the most with KP.  But I want to see more touches from him on offense.   Heck, maybe that even helps his defense if he is involved more.

I don't feel like fighting the KP battles though, because at the moment I have trouble thinkin he is here in three years....and depending how this year finishes it could be much sooner than that.

I forgot ab SA's interest before KP was traded. I imagine they would do a DR trade as they are basically getting KP for just cap space. For Mavs they would get a star back so ya I like it.

If Lavine wants to play with Luka, he has the power to do that. We need Luka to get in his buddies' ear. Houston didn't want the shitty return they got for Harden but he was still able to force a trade... Lavine would actually have more leverage since he's on the final year of his contract.
