2020-2021 ROSTER TALK: Archived

JJ + JRich works from a salary perspective.  There would probably need to be sweeteners.

Interest in Bledsoe?

Bledsoe has negative value. You would have to be getting Lonzo to take on Bledsoe.

Just all the tea leaves tell me Mavs aren't doing anything that uses up their cap space next year. It looks like they have at least made offers for Fournier and Collins so far. I don't see them doing any take on money deals right now. Those type of deals will still be there in the summer which I am sure is what they are thinking.

I'd be surprised if Miami sends out Dragic.  I don't mind adding either of Fournier or Green in something Johnson based.  I'd rather pay more for Fournier's playmaking and age, but Green could be useful too.  Was hoping for more, but certainly better than just retaining Johnson.

Ya I would be happy with any of these. I fear that we are going to miss out if AG and Fournier go to Boston (altho does that assume Smart is out bc I don't see that happening?), Lowry goes somewhere that doesn't shake loose Danny Green or Dragic and the Mavs don't get anybody with their JJ chip.

I'd also be pretty happy with a Holmes trade though.

Would love Lonzo here, but a lot depends on how much he expects in RFA

Aminu may have just saved Orlando a second rounder in my Aminu + two 2nds for Johnson deal

Last pre-TDL hot take from my hot take machine(maybe)

Terry seems to be on the outs

Mavs get OPj and Kornet

Bulls get JJ, DP, Terry and 2nd

Bulls want to compete right now to get their young players playoff experience. OPj wants out so they get better than nothing assets. They have plenty of cap room so Powell’s contract isn’t a big deal. The only real vet on their squad is Thad. Maybe Billy Donovan would welcome some more vets. Ownership saves a couple million instead of just buying out OPj

We get OPj bird rights and the bench 3/4 we need

And Fournier hasn´t realized that he needs to tank his value if he wants to be traded. I don´t think any team wants to give up a first for him but if he continues to score 30+ pts the Magic will ask for a first round pick.

Interest in Bledsoe as a means to get Lonzo.

Ugh. I liked it better when I thought you insanely wanted Bledsoe in a 3-team deal.

I've mentioned many times my desire to get John Collins in Dallas.  He would be a perfect fit.  Luka, KP and Collins would be a formidable trio.  If we can't acquire Collins, would you guys be interested in Pascal Siakam?  Apparently him and Nick Nurse got into it causing the Raptors to fine him.  It looks like the Raptors are on the verge of blowing it up.  Can we put together a package that could entice Toronto?  Or simply wait till free agency and aggressively go after Collins hoping Atlanta will not match?  Things to ponder with less than 40 hours till the trade deadline.

Yes please. He'd be an even better get than Collins, slotted alongside Luka and KP.

Do the Mavs have the assets needed, if he's actually available? To me, I'm not sure we can say no, since he's a "blow up the roster to get him" type of guy, which puts assets into play that wouldn't otherwise be on the table.

I simply don't see the point in adding a scorer to the front court to "complement" KP, if he's already upset about his touches. I think any trade for a frontcourt scorer should be thought of as a replacement for KP, regardless of if he's actually in the trade. IMO if the Mavs trade for Collins then KP is gone for sure by next year if he's not actually in the trade.

In all honesty, if we could actually get Collins without using KP, then trade KP for the rest of our starters coming off a good and healthy playoff run, THAT would be amazing.

Collins decides Dal is his destination, we offer him a contract Atl doesn’t want to match, we negotiate a SnT.

I think that Holmes is a leak to tell Cleveland or Atlanta that we are moving on, so get on board or lose out.

Also, how did I miss Brogdon being available. Would love to get in on that and make up for our mistake of not going after him in 2019.

Yes yes yes. Pascal can be a Giannis lite next to Luka/KP. Would be such a fantastic fit. Unfortunately I don't think the Mavs have even the bare minimum of assets to even begin negotiations for Siakam.

Perhaps I'm overrating him, but I don't think TOR would be so willing to let go of Siakam even after a tumultuous shortened season.

If KP in your Luka/KP stands for Kleber/Powell, we have the assets.  It's actually an idea I've had kicking around in my head since all the Pascal news broke early in the season.

I wouldn't trade KP for Pascal though. KP is far and away the better player. If TOR threw other stuff in, then maybe.

I will say I'd take the call and listen to their offers. And hey, a KP for Pascal trade is by far more realistic and commensurate than some other KP trades we've seen in the last month or so.
