Poll: With the current injuries, defensive struggles, and rumors swirling what would you do with KP?

Hold on to him! --- This will pass and he will be an elite player once he can get in game shape and put these unlucky injuries behind him.

Trade him this deadline in March! --- His value is possibly at the highest it will be and the Mavs need to get whatever they can in return for him.

Give him the rest of the season, then trade him this summer! --- Let KP get back and play himself back into shape/health and increase his trade value, but then move him this summer because clearly he is not the right fit next to Luka and with RC.

HOLY KRISTAPS: All Things Porzingis | TRADED to WAS
(02-27-2021, 04:50 PM)omahen Wrote: This KP post move is his signature move. He always played like this, not RC "forcing him". RC would actually love for KP to stop with this move.

Below was perhaps best eurobasket game I ever watched. KP was posting up basically everytime and he was deadly at that time (not just this game). Look how comfortable and unstoppable he is scoring from those position. Whether it is better defenders in NBA or he regressed, but his posting up look awful now.

This is depressing. Even in the bubble his movement wasn´t as fluent. Looks like a completly different player. Quick roll to the rim, simply outrunning slower bigs, mobile and active on defense.

About this, that Slovenia slow big (number 22 - Dimec) is really slow. No such players in NBA Smile

I think the other one is Anthony Randolph. He never made it in the NBA but he isn´t the worst athlet.

I guess that's a chicken and egg situation though.  He's looked good doing it a Dallas jersey previously.

When? I don't really remember him being good in post ups in Dallas. I remember he was awful first half of last season. Don't really remember if it was a big part of his game in the second part. He is mostly awful again this season.

I don't remember the game so much as his interview afterwards.  The reported asked him about his success in the post with that Duncan bank shot and i got a weird feeling about his answer.  Is he bad at it because he doesn't practice/utilize or is he bad at it because something has changed?

In the above interview (as someone has already pointed out) it is super fascinating how he responded to the direct question about the trade rumors:

"It came out and it is what it is."

Obviously you don't want to read too much into his English phrasing since it isn't his first language, but he definitely doesn't deny anything and from my seat seems to acknowledge that the truth indeed leaked out.

I think he's perfectly comfortable with his use of that phrase.  His English is great and in the rare occasion he stumbles, he usually remarks with "how do you say it" or "what's the right word".

While I agree with Ian's sentiment, Janis being in or out of the country doesn't matter one way or the other.  That's not the world we live in anymore.

Obviously a pump and dump scheme.  Jim Carey to star as Carlisle in Wolf of Wallstreet 2.

Gotta give KP love for showing up tonight when the pressure was on, and I don't want to talk anything away. But this was a Brooklyn team without Durant/Kyrie, which would be a fringe East playoff team at best. We need to consistently see this against the best players/teams in the league.

KP playing well helps the Mavs win a championship, whether he is here or brings us the guys who will win with Luka.

Man that was my favorite KP game. Him and Rick finally figured out that KP needs to punish the hell out of teams that are going to switch smaller guys on him. KP just pushed them deep in the paint and wore them out all night. Where has this been all year?

Greatness. But, I’m holding onto hope tonight because he didn’t let Jeff Green run him off of the court. His defense was so much better.

The Nets didn't run a lot of PnR action against KP for whatever reason. They would do some PnR against other guys. I want to see what KP looks like the next time a team runs a lot of PnR at him.

This game should give everyone hope. I feel like there is a philosophy battle between Rick and KP. KP probably had to concede last year because Mavs literally had the most efficient offense of all time.

I don't want KP doing this switch and float out to the 3 point line all the time. Yes he will get some good looks from 3 but probably too many. It is one way for him to punish bigs who are guarding him but KP will still launch like 3 or 4 feet behind the line which is reckless to me.

The other thing that happens that we don't want is KP at the 3 point line doing crossovers and trying to get to the rim the hard way. He can do it *sometimes* but his handle is not good enough to do it consistently. Kevin Durant can do this all day long because he's a hall of fame player. KP should have a pump and go move if the defender bites on his shot and that's good enough.

But KP posting up inside deep just causes all kinds of defensive scramble to the point where defenses won't be able to switch smaller guys on him if he does this consistently. He just looked so comfortable in there. I liked that he wasn't just shooting, he would pass out of it too.

I can't believe he only got 18 points out of the night, it felt like he was going to get 30 but then they were able to limit his minutes to 26. This is a game where the stat line definitely does not tell the whole story. I will take this type of effort all day every day over a hot shooting night where he shoots 60% from 3.
