Call me crazy, but I think they have paid five first round picks and have barely (if at all) gotten any better.

The length is ridiculous imo. 3 years for a 33 yr old PG. And 7 mill is a bit much.

I agree, George Hill is a big loss but yes they did not get better as I see them much the same. They actually are not as deep as they were last year

With some of these new guys being on the older side, I actually get this. 

Having some thugs (I mean that in a GOOD way) around is awesome, if you can assimilate them into your culture rather than allow them to influence it. I totally get why they'd want Barea to be around as a veteran, respected in NBA circles voice. I know we like to act like that's overblown, and sometimes I do think the Mavs overdo it, but in this case I totally get it. 

Sign Barea and give me WCS on a 1+1 (or even a Burke level 3 year) and I'm ECSTATIC with this off-season.

It would help a certain draft pick who is also short to have Barea mentor and teach him how to play winning basketball...
