DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."

Make no mistake. If they do this, they're extending him. Giannis is off the board. This would not be a rental. This would be them getting a guy they want to KEEP.

They'd probably want him but I have a hard time giving up Maxi right now with our severe lack of depth.

18+31+DFS+Curry+filler

That's an extreme overpay. Hayward is basically only a solid starter right now. He's not a star. He's now 30. I'd rather trade for Tobias Harris on his awful salary then trade any decent asset we have for Hayward.

That's a bold statement, my friend.

I am with him on that statement

I bet Mavs would be doing an extension/S&T if DFS is involved. If it's a 1 yr thing then maybe its just THJ/Wright?

I at least know Harris is going to be available to play. And his offensive stats are actually better. Defense I don't think is as good.

And make not mistake. I want no part of Harris. But I want no part of GH even less if we are exhausting every decent asset we have.

For a guy who isn't a 20 ppg guy? No thanks. His career scoring average is 15.3ppg. He's a good defender but he's not winning any DPOY awards.

IIs there is anything linking Mavs to Hayward? Or it is pure guessing ?

I need to know  , because I am really against that deal

Hayward > Hield

but also

trading with SAC >> trading with Ainge

Unless Gordon opts out I don’t see him ending up here.

Just speculation. It does seem like he is trying to get traded to another team or opt out.

Guessing based on the fact he is delaying his option to Thursday

Just educated guessing, so far.

But...

Said that those 3 1sts from Boston must have been an offer a few pages ago. That explains the pick swaps.
Hayward is just cap matching in that scenario haha.

I wouldn't say his value is all that great based on that deal.

Good point from Supes (Atlanta guy). Boston is hard capped so they can't do SnT.

@"khaled1987" I like reading your stuff, and I think you're a smart guy.

I think that if Hayward came here and you saw how the Mavs would use him you'd end up being a fan.

Well, if Supes says it, it must be true....

But if that's the case, it would mean that the deal would have to be for his 2020-21 player option amount, with an extension (A LOT SMALLER, PLEASE) coming after.

Dang, that's a lot of salary to have to send out.

Guess they all want to watch Luka throws Cavs tantrums in 2022 announcing The Trade Request on E Slovenian PN.

The Porzingis injury risk threat is still real.

Now imagine blowing multiple assets (#18+#31+Kleber+Brunson) on a pre-agreed massive contract extension of Gordon Hayward, while Porzingis wrecks his knee again next season.

2021/2022

Mavs Starting 5

Doncic/Old dude
THJ/Old dude
Hayward/Old dude
DFS/Old dude
Powell/Old dude

Luka you just gotta trust the process. The 4th knee surgery for Porzingis will 100% work. Cool

Not really. THJ and Wright (for example) is enough. Insert Curry, Kleber or DFS+Jackson instead of Wright.

What would you do if you were the MBT right now? Realistic proposals only, please. And yes, I understand the concept that the blunders of their last offseason are what put them in their current situation. Can't change the past. Just want to know what you think is the pathway to avoiding your scenario.

You do realize, that no matter what you do, this narrative will stay. If KP will not be able to play, Mavs are more or less screwed as far as contending goes.

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

I firmly believe a straight swap of....

THJ+Wright <------> Hayward

Is totally fair and a win-win trade for both sides. No need to complicate it further.
