Makes no sense to give up both DFS and THJ for a one year rental of Hayward. Mavs would need to replace 60 minutes in their starting five. Hayward gets 30. Where do the Mavs find another starting wing for the remaining minutes?

Make no mistake. If they do this, they're extending him. Giannis is off the board. This would not be a rental. This would be them getting a guy they want to KEEP.

What's a package that would make sense for Hayward? That would definitely be a big splash move for the Mavs.

They'd probably want him but I have a hard time giving up Maxi right now with our severe lack of depth.

That's an extreme overpay. Hayward is basically only a solid starter right now. He's not a star. He's now 30. I'd rather trade for Tobias Harris on his awful salary then trade any decent asset we have for Hayward.

I at least know Harris is going to be available to play. And his offensive stats are actually better. Defense I don't think is as good. 

And make not mistake. I want no part of Harris. But I want no part of GH even less if we are exhausting every decent asset we have. 

For a guy who isn't a 20 ppg guy? No thanks. His career scoring average is 15.3ppg. He's a good defender but he's not winning any DPOY awards.

Said that those 3 1sts from Boston must have been an offer a few pages ago. That explains the pick swaps.
Hayward is just cap matching in that scenario haha.

I wouldn't say his value is all that great based on that deal.

Well, if Supes says it, it must be true....

But if that's the case, it would mean that the deal would have to be for his 2020-21 player option amount, with an extension (A LOT SMALLER, PLEASE) coming after.

Dang, that's a lot of salary to have to send out.

No one should be disappointed.  Outside of Schroeder and Bogdan, we don't have the assets to play in these negotiations.  As far as the sentiment that we should operate as a desperate team, we can't give up all of our tradable assets as we still need starters on the floor with Luka, KP and ???.  We are a few years away from title contention.  No reason to rush and screw yourself down the line.

Guess they all want to watch Luka throws Cavs tantrums in 2022 announcing The Trade Request on E Slovenian PN.

The Porzingis injury risk threat is still real.

Now imagine blowing multiple assets (#18+#31+Kleber+Brunson) on a pre-agreed massive contract extension of Gordon Hayward, while Porzingis wrecks his knee again next season.
