DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."

But when Cuban said (paraphrasing):  "Once Kemba was going to Boston, literally our second call was to Delon Wright."  That really pissed me off.   I dont trust the Mavs in free agency until they do something to change my mind.  That's why I dont care about plan powder for 2021.  They'll sit around a week waiting for Giannis to decide while the rest of the free agents get snapped up.  Probably do some stupid cartoon presentation.

Donnie is much better at trades.

Delon Wright wasn't great. No argument there.

You can also asume, Curry was a done deal already so no call needed at this moment.

That was how ferocious the bidding war must have gotten over Jrue Holiday. Pels going Presti.

I should have also said , I don't think it's going to work or rather get them a championship.  Giannis is one step closer to Riley.

The speculation on the twittersphere (Stein and others) is that Giannis has already informed them he's signing the supermax.

Like I said in the other thread, I don't think a team should feel safe even if someone signs the a supermax.  Presti and PG13 set the precedent and players/agents have more control than ever.  Bucks are draining their assets so they better hope this works.

Pretty much this. Giannis signing doesn’t mean everything. They flame out before the finals again and he’s demanding a trade.

Yeah, I guess that's true, but I just don't think you can run your team with that mindset.

I think the hurdle is to get him to sign. Once you're over that, I think you can relax your balls a little. Not every NBA player is a douche like Harden or AD. Even Lebron never pulled a stunt like that.

I want to believe Giannis is loyal and I hope he is a Buck his entire career.  Jrue's a good move but giving up AD style compensation is an overpay and jeopardizes their long term outlook.  That's a tight rope to balance.

Any interest in Justin Holiday?

I just saw on ESPN that the guys allowing the lowest FG% as the closest defender last year were Giannis, AD, Justin Holiday, and Jrue Holiday.

Holiday also shot 40.5% from three last year.

Is it fair to say this is the worst trade (at least on value of the player) since the Brooklyn trade back in the day?

Not unless he leaves.  You can literally buy a low 1st round/high 2nd round pick for cash most years.  I think yall are way overblowing this.

I think he'd be a good target, but we'd likely have to dump some assets to a team with cap room to afford him, or work out a sign-and-trade.

He only made $4.7 million last year.  Would think he'd love the MLE if anyone were to offer it.

I've been thinking about #18 a lot lately. Looking at the compensation that is going into this offseason trades and With this being a middling draft, what if no trade materializes. The previous 17 picks and the players you liked are gone, the phone rings and it's New York. Would you consider swapping either of your owed picks to them for the player they want?

Let's see what Houston gets in return for ditching Westbrook. Nets never really had a window while Westbrook slammed Houston's shut.

Play-off-Paul may have a word.

Problem is you could pick up the phone and get most of the compensation back that you paid for PG13 by trading him again.

I can see you getting 2 picks back and lets not talk at all about the talent OKC got with their haul.

The Clips paid at least the same premium on PG13 as the Bucks paid on Jrue.

Oh, I m aware this isn't really fair as PG13 already choked bad one time and Jrue is to be judged.

Kings blowing it up?

Something tells me we are landing Buddy Love sometime in the next 24 hours.

Bledsoe and 3 1st rd picks is a massive overpay for what could be 1 year. They’re all in. We’ll see what happens
