DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."
https://gph.is/2RlYUNX

The love triangle that Tobias is gonna create when he gets here is gonna break this team apart! Luka will demand a trade!

Braxton, why did you do that to us!

I'd rather have Wright than Powell. Wright is at least valuable here as a defender.

I'd give 31 and Powell for Danny Green.

Powell is much harder to move AND Powell is beloved by Carlisle and the front office, who seem to already have given up on Delon.

Yall need to give up on any hypothetical Powell trades at least for the time being.

Let's hope Powell rebuilds his value this season so a trade like this becomes possible. No one's going to take him right now.

I think it would even be a win if he plays well enough that he could be moved for a slightly less overpaid backup on a shorter deal. Someone like Aminu comes to mind.

Don't tell me how to live my life lol.

I'm just saying if we are just going to dump guys. We should dump Powell instead.
But the reports are everyone but the 2 stars are available so I don't rule out anything. I think they are smart enough to realize that Wright and Powell got to go if you want max cap space next summer. Or you lose Kleber and/or Curry.

Man Bun isn't coming here.  We like long blonde hair in Dallas.

Nesmith + Hield + Millsap is going to be a killer off-season for us. Gotta feel bad for Mike Breen though for when he call our games. He'll wear out his voice with all those bangs.

I dont think you can move Powell right now even attaching the #18 pick.

His stock is at an all-time low and has three years left on the contract. The only way I see him being moved is if you swap him for a good player on a bad contract (Wall, Westbrook, Harris, etc.).

Yes Green is not worth 31 but Green plus subtracting Wright might be worth 31, we will see. Mavs might do it for cheaper but Wright is a negative asset so you aren't going to be able to move him without some kind of cost.

So, let's explore another way this might work.  OKC agrees to buyout Green for $6mm.  Why does Green agree to a $9.35mm pay cut?  Because Dallas has promised to sign him to a one year MLE deal that makes him whole.  But wait, that means OKC paid $6mm for the 28th pick.  Not if Cuban writes a $5mm check.  In that case, they paid $1mm for the 28th pick (about the going rate).

There is one thing missing from "The Dan Plan".  There has to be a trade between Dallas and OKC in which Cuban can funnel some money (because the buyout/MLE plan isn't a trade).  If only we could think of a way that OKC and Dallas might be involved in a trade of some kind that might make Green useful as a replacement for DFS.  Hmmm, I wonder if anyone has any ideas.

Glad you are back.

I played with the idea of just one of them and struggled to make it comply with OKC's desire for expiring contracts.  That was for just one of Oubre and Green, let alone both.  Then I modeled out the Green Buyout/MLE signing by Dallas which makes Green whole and sets OKC up to pay $1mm for #28 if there is a second deal with Dallas where Cuban adds $5mm.  Now the idea of both Green and Oubre doesn't seem so outlandish.

So, let's go back to Wright/DFS going to OKC and Oubre coming here (and pause the Rubio GIF's for a moment).  What you are saying is 18 would be outgoing, but we'd be getting a future first back?  That is also interesting.  OKC certainly has the draft capital.  Are you thinking 21 or 22?  Or, do you know?

The math on postponing the pick to 22 and moving Wright/DFS for expiring deals is really interesting missing the mark for GA space by less than the cost of Brunson.

I want Danny Green to be no part of the Mavs' rotation in 2020-21.

I love Millsap, he improves us instantly, he is a tough smart player, and can contribute to a title, I really love his game, and he is very underrated. But have to say with Nesmith + Hield, we get even softer as a team than we are currently, and already now this is a major issue in playoffs. They both bring elite shooting and pretty much nothing else.

I'd love to have Green. I don't want to give anything of value. But he plays the sort of DFS role. If you were to get an all offensive type guy like Lavine (or more realistically Gallo) you need good defenders to round out your starting lineup. Green defending and shooting is a good fit.

Again not paying anything of value for him tho.

I’m trying to PREPARE you guys. I’m trying so hard. Years from now, historians will look back at this off-season and award me some sort of posthumous humanitarian prize.

I don't see why you couldn't play DFS and Green together.
