DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."
If the Bucks want to trade Middleton for Bogdon, then by all means. Let them self implode. Bogdon is at best a lateral move if he's replacing Middleton.

The mere idea of the Bucks wanting to blow it up by trading their 2nd star is laughable. But if they want to do it, no team in the Giannis hunt should stand in their way.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

We haven't discuss this one so much. Not really a stellar defender and bad three point shooter, but only geting to his prime. Worked extremely well with Nets but is redundant with healthy Kyrie (like that ever happens). He has expiring contract and might demand a huge paycheck after next season. Brooklyn will certainly have a trouble keeping him long term, if they care about tax at all. I think we would have to eat Prince contract to facilitate the trade. He had a dissapointing season but there is some potential.

Brooklyn would have absolutely no intention taking our crap contracts, they are here to win it all. They need shooting and they need defense. I think a guy like Kleber is perfect for them. I guess Curry, Kleber and DFS are guys that would look great spreading the floor for their stars, just as they are in Dallas. I think them three and our #18 would be a fair value based on player quality. However, based on the player fit, I don't think Mavs would get better doing this. Perhaps Kleber+THJ+#18 or Kleber+Wright+DFS+#18? Perhaps it would be easier as a third team facilitating Jrue to Nets?

All in all, I actually don't really mind Prince, I think he can be much better than last season (and he wasn't really awful). He would kill our flexibility to an extent (although not if we let Dinwiddie walk after the season). I am more affraid about Dinwiddie fit on the team.

Wow. I am not sure what to say about that trade. It is really bad. You highlighted it - he can't defend and can't shoot. If they get value for him, it is from a bad team looking for someone to take shots - which he does, albeit, inefficiently. Dinwiddie isn't a good player. Hard stop.

Not a Dinwiddie fan at all.

Love reading the forum fellas. Glad I found it.

Just wanted to say, this is a name I’d like out of most the names floating around.

Things are about to get crazy!! I appreciate all the posts from Twitter, podcasts, etc. as I certainly lack the time to look for it; it just adds to the excitement for me regardless of the level of BS involved.

Mirotic at the 4 could be really nice in my book. I'm down for that.

Following up on some discussion over the last couple days as we all arm-chair GM this thing, I perhaps used too much hyperbole in my post. I was mostly trying to be funny/sarcastic, which doesn't always translate well in this forum. Lesson learned. I am 100% for smart team building.

If you can't hit any home runs, then just draft un-dumb at 18, use 31 to move Wright for an expiring contract (if the guy can play, that's a plus), sign a one-year guy with the MLE, add a couple of undrafted free agents or vet min guys, and work on internal improvement. That's better than anything involving crap contracts that run past '21.

I brought it up a few weeks back and no one responded - what if the Mavs could attract Mirotic to return to the NBA this year?

Mirotic is the highest paid player in Europe, won league MVP and then extended his contract through '25.  He's not coming back.

Would add that even if a deal for A. Gordon expanded to include  Fournier, mark me down as one for it. ?

I kind of get it.

Though the Kings are sending out 40M, while getting back 20.

Also is Middleton really worth the #1 pick+Culver. That seems crazy, too.

The general idea to find a PG that is age-compatible with Giannis and could play with him for the next decade is probably not a bad idea. Lots of pressure though for Lamelo to prove his own worth in 12 months and not have his father run Giannis out of town personally.

The Bucks guaranteed 2021 roster would be

Giannis 41 (caphold, so he can sign the super-max)
Barnes 20
Bogdanovic 15
Lopez 13
Melo 8

They gain enough flexibility to move for another "make-a-wish-Giannis"-candidate by trading Barnes and Lopez for example.

I think it´s just a made-up idea, but at least one off the beaten path.

Have to admit looking at all of them, the only one, I´d actually read anything into would be Aldridge following Cuban.

We are already in the high-intensity trade talk season, with a few deals probably agreed upon.

Will the Spurs delay their rebuild for a hopeless play-off push? Does Pop even want to come back during a pandemic, at his age?

People say 2021 is a super draft, so logically this would be the moment for the Spurs to blow it up.

Maximize what they can get for DeRozan/Aldridge, extend Poetl and go into the super-tank.

I doubt you can get more than the 18th pick for a 35 year old LMA on an expiring contract. LMA is from Dallas.

Tweet or not, using our MBT operational hat, this is something that makes a lot of sense.

The LMA follow is what caught my eye.

"According to my sources, rival teams believe that Westbrook can be acquired via trade"

According to a recent report from ActionNetwork.com’s Matt Moore, the Mavs are interested in three big names who could be moved via trade this offseason.
Quote:“Specifically, there is thought to be interest from Dallas in Indiana Pacers guard Victor OladipoBrooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie and New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday,” Moore wrote. “All indications that they’re looking for a wing upgrade to pair with Doncic.”

Interesting bit on Dinwiddle. Just a thought but I'd imagine it was probably just an inquiry on price and perhaps even a front to see about Levert. Dinwiddle is fine but leaves alot to be desired for what the Mavs need from another guard. Namely he's a poor shooter on high volumes.

Jerry West forget to take his vitamins?

LeVert is the guy I'd be interested in from the Nets.

True. But THJ was a tax to get KP. We would have never traded for THJ until he put up a season like last year.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. There were rumors both before and after the KP deal that Dallas had talked to NY about trading Matthews for THJ.

If that Phoenix trade for CP3 happens, it is most likely Oubre, Rubio and one smaller contract. I wonder if OKC would be willing to trade Oubre to us. Plenty of options for a three team trade here.
