Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist
(04-19-2025, 01:31 PM)mvossman Wrote: I have never been a fan of the Lakers, but I am rooting for them to win it all.  Not just for Luka and Dorian, but because its the best possible outcome for the Mavs.  It is the best chance of getting rid of Nico before more damage is done.  Unfortunately I think Dumont will need to go as well before this franchise has any chance of being relevant again.

You think Dumont is going somewhere?  I don't..

Dumont needs to realize we can make life very hard for him and his pocketbook in Vegas. We need to start a campaign to outlaw casinos nationwide. Gambling is wrong and downright evil as can be. The devil and his demons play in casinos. Nothing but evil exists in those places. Jesus is Lord and those who offend Gods Chidren must pay the price for their blasphemy. LOL Who is ready to start an organization that calls for making all casinos illegal?

I don't.  That is why I said unfortunately.  I don't think getting rid of Nico is going to be enough, but it can't possibly get worse.

Luka-Klay-Naji-PJ-Lively (BWill-Exum-Grimes-Maxi-Gafford)

Would this roster have been good for a PO deep run like second round or WCF?

We'll never know now. It's water under the dyke.

Depends on who Dumont hires as Nico's replacement.
The problem is he won't trust anyone going forward so this could really get ugly.
Patrick isn't smart enough to make any BB decisions, but he might have a short leash on all decisions made by a GM who knows what he is doing.

Tim McMahon's summary of how it all went south for the current DAL MBT.

I feel like Tim has always looked for the dark side of the Mavs, But a lot of this is on the correct timeline and it makes Nico look like a narcissistic megalomanic.

I have a worry that we are heading back to the free falling 90's as Mavs fans. Not just as a result of THE TRADE, but it feels like there has been a loss of buy in from most of the players into the "team" concept.

Not sure how to re-kindle that without finding another hub for the wheel. Is that AD? Maybe, but it hasn't had time to develop yet, although the limited glimpses show he can certainly lift the team. Maybe Kyrie? I think at this point he can be critical to developing the team chemistry, but he's no longer the lead dog. Everybody else on the team is either too young or too old to assume the role.

Going to be interesting to see how the MBT shuffles the deck this offseason.

It seems like he gets rid of everybody that can somehow challenge his position as the boss… Be it Casey or Cuban or Dirk and now even Doncic. Kind of similar of how Kidd got rid of the coaches that Luka loved in the beginning of his tenure, isn’t it? And also the reason Kidd has turned into a yes-man, because otherwise he‘s gone as well. Crazy to think that the Cowboys are the more functional team in Dallas all of a sudden.

There's a very real possibility Kyrie Irving doesn't get injured if Luka was still in Dallas at  that point.

I saw very clearly that Kyrie was pressing doing much more than he normally would have done to manufacture scoring in that stretch and in that game in particular.

That point hasn't been talked about much but I agree 100%. Kyrie was going as hard as he could when he got hurt, just like AD did in his first game. Kyrie always amazed me with his easy 25pts and he usually seemed to save his energy for the 4th quarter. There's no way to know for sure but I'm doubt he barrels into the lane at full speed in a normal March game against the Kings if Luka was around. Kyrie was just trying to keep the ship afloat.

Agree.

But my answer was simple... With Luka instead of AD& Christie were in PO?

I say yes and probably with a top6 spot.

Long article from Grant Afseth describing the dismantling of the Mavericks engineered by Nico Harrison in detail:

https://dallashoopsjournal.com/p/nico-ha...ncic-trade

There are also some very interesting and new insights in this article, for example the possible long-term vision with Matan Adelson.

Is it possible we shortened our championship timeline intentionally that he can „play around“ in the thirties - meaning his age and the next decade at the same time?

Sounds like Matan is as much of a douche as the rest of that horrible family. Absolute scum. What an outlook. The moment Harrison gets finally fired theyll replace him with a smartass rich kid who needs a new toy.

Awful times. The fact that Dirk has decided to stay away from the organization tells you all you need to need to know.

The most insane part of this trade is how you can even think you can trade Luka to a conference rival and still believe that you are going to make it past Luka to the Finals.

Luka is going to destroy Mavericks for the next 15 years as a Laker. His resume is all about winning and he transformed a losing franchise into a contender in such a short time, with two confrence finals and a Finals appearance. Mavs were close to 100 percent sure of winning at least one Finals with Luka and most likely several.

There are bad decisions from across the sports and life, and rarely once in a while there are the worse ones, the mentally retarded decisions. Often based on over thinking and trying to catch attention from others. When most people and experts didnt even believe the trade was true when the news came out, then you know something is wrong.

Making that trade is a fire-able offense. Even if everything else Nico did was 100% correct, which it wasn't. Mavs 1st move in the off season (now) is to fire Nico. Has to be done, the sooner, the better.

Hmmm really surprised this interaction did not go well….

###<<<<

. Sources informed DallasHoopsJournal.com that among the factors that led Dumont to provide the green light was an interaction he had with Dončić, focused on addressing perceived conditioning concerns. This occurred before Harrison initiated trade talks for Dončić at his coffee meeting with Pelinka in Dallas before the Mavericks faced the Lakers on Jan. 7. As one might expect, that interaction involving Dončić and Dumont did not go well. Weeks later, Dončić was traded, with a heavy run of media leaks emphasizing conditioning to follow.
