Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist

Like Nash's MVP year.
But a lot more scarier for the league.

I always wanted LeBron to end up on the Mavs so he'd talk Luka into his training regimen.  I guess I kind of got my wish.

Fortunately no „Ferien“, just a weekend in the mountains to recharge. That went wrong quickly - I’m happy to jump back to work tomorrow and focus on other things than this sh*tshow of throwing away the future of the Mavs.

Same for me, was hoping to lure him here with Kyrie that his habits rub off on Luka because he idolizes him.

Will be fascinating to watch from afar with a broken heart if Luka gets transformed and dominates the league for the next decade or starts day drinking at the beach and breaks down completely in two or three years.

Why, of all the teams, did it have to be the lakers?! I can’t even be a Luka-only fan now…

Sure you can and with a clean conscious.  This wasn't his doing.

Hey at you least you can watch AD and never worry about his age or health. He´s the original NBA Ironman. Makes sense to trade the fatso for a reliable option like AD. That should be the first slap in Nico´s face at the press conference. Talks about reliability, builds around Kyrie, AD and Lively, who are more injury prone than an episode of E.R.

I think everyone needs to take this attitude with the Mavs now.  What a joke of a franchise.

You want to cheer for the Lakers? I´d have taken Houston or San Antonio. At least they´d have gotten some young talent and picks back. Though Nico would probably have settled for Barnes, Collins and CP3.

Personally?  No.  I was never much of a Luka fan in the first place.  But if you are his fan, he had no part in this, so I'm not going to look at you funny if you rock the purple and gold.

I just want life after death to find out whether Dwight Powell is the one. He must be the Highlander, just to not say cockroach. He even survived a nuclear trade.

...and somehow they are already borderline the worst of these 10 teams, will certainly be in six to 18 months.

With this trade, Nico Harrison made Jerry Jones look a heck of a lot more competent, lol.

The more I read, I believe this trade came about as a request from the NBA's administration. The league's viewership and ratings are reportedly at all-time lows. They want Luka on the Lakers to improve viewership and ratings.

Even if it is what the league wanted, a competent GM should have said HECK NO! Or demanded more picks and assets in return. Unless, he's trying to buy himself future leverage for his personal plans. And/or if the plan is to move the Mavericks franchise to Vegas, and agreeing to this was the way to get the league's agreement for that.

Besides, NBA's viewership and ratings have dropped for other reasons, such as:

1) The boring and lame "shoot-threes-or-die" style of play, which comes from lame rules.
2) Most NBA players are really lame, as personalities and people.
3) Coverage of the league in sports media (like ESPN/BSPN) has become very lame, and excessively panders to one community.
4) Lame and inconsistent refereeing.

In other words, the whole product has become trash-uhh! Sending Luka to the Lakers won't fix it, and is only a temporary bandage.

(Where the "trash-uhh" reference comes from. Tongue)

Wow is this real? Considering all the time I spend thinking and talking Mavs, I may be done. Yo see it end this way is depressing. Honestly having the Mavs go all in trading more picks and having 300 pound Luka get hurt is better than this

Team a don’t recover from this. Now I get to watch an in shape Luka torture the league with the freakin Laker

Oh yeah, AD meet our world class training staff

I bet he gets his conditioning together now.  LeBron is going to see to that.  He had another 30-point triple-double last night after a big win over the Knicks. It's too bad he wasn't more serious about it when he was here.  I, like others, still can't believe how little they got for him.  This trade won't be judged in a few weeks or months. It will be judged in totality a few years from now. Who knows, it may just work out for the Mavs if Davis stays healthy, and the same goes for Luka. It still sucks giving up a generational talent like that for so little in return.

Sounds like Mavs offered Luka a salad at dinner. He refused, so they traded him.

I mean there are legit concerns about his weight and discipline. I have mentioned several times that his shape changes DURING the season. That is pretty incredible.

But to trade him? That is the last thing you do. And make the weight a big thing. We are about to see Vegan Luka on Lebrons workout program.

We got our backup 4 though…and didn’t need to trade Gafford.

Ok I may take a break

One more thing. It would be better (not remotely great) if the mavs thought this move puts them anywhere close to contention. That just tells you how clueless they are

One, one more thing before I am gone for a while. I would prefer this off-seasog Davis for picks, moving Kyrie for a pick, moving Klay. Moving others. This team isn’t going to win so may as well reset.hoping for otherwise is a lost cause.
